So tonight’s the big night for our first MeetUp in Boston, with co-host IDG Ventures Boston. Doors open at The Estate, 1 Bolyston Place at 6 pm. Party ends at 11 pm (see info below about the drinking-focused after party). Please bring your IDs for ticket verification.

Here are a few highlights of what to expect:
We are working with Brightcove to host a variety of video interviews with meetup attendees. I will be doing a series of interviews with technology founders/CEOs. Thanks to Chris Brogan for producing the video segments. We’ll be adding the video posts using the Brightcove player on the dedicated Boston MeetUp page.

SnapYap will be live videoblogging the meetup. They will also be opening up invitations to their new Video Calling feature for the first 1,000 users that sign up through this link. Try it out!

Attendees will also be enjoying an array of interactive games and contests with cash and prize giveaways: ZoomInfo is raffling off a Nintendo Wii, Moola is giving away $5,000 cash to the winner of an online game and Poker Creations is hosting an interactive poker tournament with cool prizes all night long.

After Hours with TechCrunch: We’ve also decided to continue our social networking at a nearby pub when we’re done at The Estate at 11 pm. Please join us at MJ O’Connor’s, 27 Columbus Avenue at Park Plaza. We’ll keep a tab open until the TechCrunch credit card gives out. Drink your Red Bull today so you can stay up with us!

I have my tickets, now its time to get crunchy. I watched the SF party in July online and it was really a fun time - better than I expected.

I can feel the energy already, or that maybe the 2 redbulls and 3 rockstars I just finished.

….I am lost. What is the main objective of the “MeetUp”? some informal startup pitches? What will be the main benefit for the users that read this blog, but cant not personally attend?

Thanks,

I didn’t go because apparently the programmer on your staff changed my screen name to asshat in my comments last week for his or her own amusement. I don’t support people that hijack other people’s information. Please donate my ticket to charity:

Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Chris - I’m sorry you won’t be going to the MeetUp, but I can assure you that we most certainly did not change your screen name. I just checked out the comment thread you refer to and it looks to me like a bunch of our readers were just messing with you through impersonation.

Mark, It was in the HTML that was sent to my browser, that’s some hack.

At any rate I’ll take your word for it. Please donate the ticket to Scoble if he shows up and tries to stand in the hall as he sometimes does at these events such as mix. I’m going to bury my nose back into the code.

Since Boston is the subject of this post thought I’d send you all a link to our latest press release. I think this might be one of the bigger seed raises in Boston’s recent histrory.

I’m going to wear a nude bodysuit, look out

I am out for this one and it’s a shame. You guys should do a meetup in Philadelphia.

When is the next one? Wish we could come to this….

are business cards a necessity?

disregard this comment. just a quick test.

I will be there. Boston is my home base. I look forward to seeing you all there.

Sorry I won’t be able to make it… have fun!

eek- did this thing email out confirmations?? I bought 2 tix but cant find anything in my inbox…!

Is there some way to get eventbrite to re-send a confirmation (like a forgot-password kinda thing??)

On behalf of the moola community, i would like to congratulate Greedy for winning the opportunity to attend this event, and wish him the best of luck in the $5000 game!!

GO GREEDY!!!!

It all starts NOW! On behalf of the moola community, as well as maggot, good luck greedy!!

Woot!

@asshat

Suck it up and go, don’t let the trolls prevent from going to the show.

Chris R / Asshat - I agree with Jen. YOu should attend.

I am having problems with the video wall. It does not show the live blog.

“@asshat

Suck it up and go, don’t let the trolls prevent from going to the show.”

By the time I read the post, it was too late to drive down to Montreal and catch a plane. Maybe next time. Besides, we can handle the launch of our search without additional funds.
Thanks for caring though Jen, Bo.

That was fun … traveled up from Baltimore! Wish I had slept the night before would’ve gone to the after party!

A Philly or DC event would rock - AOL & IAC vets have launched an incubator in DC!

Thanks, as always!

Thanks for one awesome party!
MA is one super generous host, thanks for stocking the place so amply!

I couldn’t believe it when the party was roaring and MA got on the mic and said ‘be sure to come over to the after-party… whaaa!? THe party after the party? Too bad I had to drive home…

well thanks again it was nice to meet all of you who I hang with every day but have never actually seen :-)

Hey everyone, thanks for attending. It’s now 3 am, I’m just back to my room, and I have to leave for the airport in an hour. Uggg.

Lots to post on. And if you’re the guys who took offense and called me on it, email me about your startup. Like I said in person, it was a long night of pitches and yours was just the one that broke the haystack, or whatever it is they say.

The meetup was a blast! Met tons of interesting people, heard lots of great ideas, really glad I went.
