This writeup misses an important point – HiveLive targets corporations and is used as much for internal communications as for general community stuff. Think knowledge management meets social networking. That’s why they’re at Defrag instead of, say, Digital Hollywood.

Are these white label social networking platforms really getting traction? I don’t get it, except for maybe like very small groups who don’t care that they don’t control and “own” their platform, data, etc.

I wonder if they would face court actions over their name. Here in the Netherlands is a very big social network called Hyves. They are also active in other countires, but in the Netherlands it is the number 1 site with over 4 million Dutch members (thats 30% of all Dutchmen!) Hyves is even fighting google on the number of pageviews. Myspace and Facebook are very small overhere.
