I building OS for Walmart. I need to wonder what "youth of today" doing, so I build the new web 2.00000001.

Seriously I just moved to Toulouse France, the real high tech center of France and would love to network because I am a fish out of water here.

We are launching our new company The Content Stop - "your one-stop shop for creating and selling eBooks and digital content online" - just a few days prior to LeWeb at the beginning of December. It would be incredibly fortuitous timing to be able to participate in LeWeb with all the excitement and energy of a just launched company propelling us forward. The contacts we would make and the exposure we'd receive would be invaluable. We are a small bootstrapped startup based in Jerusalem, Israel. Paris is only a 4 hour plane ride away, so we'd love to be there. Thanks for considering us!

Although we are a young startup with young founders, we are already working with lots of top bloggers and publications, and are growing fast. Le Web 3 is superbly timed as a great place to get lots of feedback from great minds, so that we can further develop our product and distribution. Plus we are starting to see audience growth in France, so it would be great to pop over the Channel and explore the reasons behind this.

Two years ago I wanted to go to LeWeb (back then I was a software developer in Paris during my MSc at Ecole Polytechnique) but couldn't because the boss wouldn't let me. Now I am free to attend, am more happy, have an exciting life, am a system architect and RoR senior dev for an US startup, an important local blogger(I moved to Romania in the meantime) and on the side developing some side projects with huge startup potentials.
Le Web would give me the opportunity to meet the hot people in the biz, pitch my ideas to angels and, last but not least, to shake hands of and take pictures with Loic, Michael and many more of the guys I respect, read daily and hope to someday follow.

Global exposure, an event to live by, being in the company of who's who of the tech world, visiting paris ;), etc. are few of the ways in which we are going to benefit from LeWeb3. But honestly, it is the pleasure of listening to people like you and seeing 30 GREAT ideas being rolled out right before our eyes that makes LeWeb3 such a sought after event. Ghosh!! how we would miss it if we don't make it there. (We couldn't make to Techcrunch40 and we don't want to miss another memorable event in a year)

Moreover coming from a relatively unkown city of India in terms of IT, LeWeb3 definitely gives us the global boosting that we need.

And last but not the least, visiting Paris and the Ledo Show in absence of our wives is something we just look forward to!!

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?
One of the biggest challenges for those of us who are bootstrapping startups, that aren't located in the forest collectively known as silicon valley, is that its hard for us to make an impression.
You can build all of the amazing services in the world, but if you can't generate buzz and interest in the heart of the tech industry then what your building will likely go nowhere.

A chance to go to LeWeb on TCs dime for me, would kill two birds with one stone:
1. We'd get that big opportunity to share our vision of the future of the travel platform and how our startup, Travature.com, plans to shape it. Basically, a chance for our tree to make some noise.
2. We'd save some money and thus in the spirit of bootstrapping we'll be able to keep the lights on in our office :-)

P.S.
If we don't win, then good luck to the selected winner.
If you end up needing cheap tickets to Paris, you might try our airfare comparison engine at http://www.travature.com - we meta search dozens of travel websites and airlines for the cheapest fares, so maybe you'll save some money.

i will get lots of cool business cards.
i need to redo mine and i could really benefit from looking at other people's.
i'll collect as many as i can, cut the bits i like and glue them together to make my own.
and then i will hang them all with thread from the ceiling and make connections between them with coloured scotch-tape.
i call this technique "social stickiness 3d".
unfortunately no one pays me to come up with this sort of stuff so i can't afford the ticket. i do speak french, which is useful since i am now living in paris. i also know a bunch of programming languages but they've boring on their own. people are far more interesting.

There are a lot of great entries in this post so it is going to be hard for Michael and Loic to choose. Anyways, here I go:

I am the founder of recently launched http://www.SmartRatings.com. A consumer research site that aggregates expert reviews and ratings in order to make product recommendations. I mostly would like to attend the event for the networking opportunities as they may help in our efforts to promote SmartRatings.com.

Before SmartRatings.com I was a VP at PriceGrabber.com, one of the leading shopping comparison sites. I was in charge of International Operations. I started working on SmartRatings after the company was sold to Experian Interactive.

I just created an entry in the review section of the Crunch Forums so if any person reading this has any feedback about SmartRatings.com I would really appreciate it. Techcrunch Forum Link

thank you,

TECHCRUNCH – I came up with three reasons why I could benefit most from attending the Le Web 3 conference

1) I'm a senior at Purdue University, studying entrepreneurship and finance. I'm really fascinated with how the internet, especially the Web 2.0 space is constantly innovating and expanding. By attending Le Web 3 I will have a chance to increase my knowledge and build relationships with some of the most significant individuals in the industry.

2) Currently I am working on an entry for Tech Stars 2008. Attending Le
Web 3 would be a great chance for my idea to mature into a viable entry. Attending the different workshops and speeches will help me garner a greater understanding of current market trends and new technologies.

3) Lastly, I think Le Web 3 will help compliment my future career goals/aspirations. This semester I am interning for a VC firm and I really enjoy having the chance to work within the technology/internet sector. I find a lot of pleasure in constantly being thrown new ideas and having to figure out which one could have a substantial market impact and create value for our portfolio. In the future, most likely after business school, I plan on pursuing a full time position with a VC firm.

All that’s left to do is kayak a flight and couchsurf a place to stay!

Thank you,

I'm a 21-year-old student in a French Business School (ESCEM) and I plan to launch my Internet start-up within 2 years.
I'm fond of IT innovations, especially in the Web industry. I spend a lot of time trying to detect marketing trends, to track initiatives, to discover demands that aren't presently satisfied, and to test ideas.

As a member of the leweb3 Facebook group, I've discussed and followed discussions that led to the selected program. I've planned to attend the conference, but I regrettably had to give up because of financial reasons.

Because of my location (Poitiers, France), I haven't many opportunities to meet professionals so I'm satisfied with reading blogs and surveys, watching or listening to podcasts, contacting some entrepreneurs... and keeping in touch with TechCrunch. I've a lot to learn from leweb3 lecturers, and many ideas to discuss with professionals.

I really hope your invitation will help me create my business, share ideas and - in the long-term - provide news to TC about great Internet innovations!

Thanks by advance.

I'm a student in IT, in Paris XI university, and unfortunately i can't afford the price of the ticket (i've tried many things to perform it without success, including mailing Loic... :-) ), but i'm very interesting in web 2.0 revolution, in technologies of course, but most of all on its impact of the world dealing with information.

For me LeWeb3 conference deals with the true subjects, when seeing the subject as a revolution in behavior, a new step in democraty, and i want to be there to share on this and make this world more aware of its voice and capability !

Just check my blog for more information, there even is an ad for LeWeb3 conf... so i would like to be there, to be able to blog on it ! :-)

Don't get me started on the FRENCH!
Well if you insist ... the latest French thing with me? hmmmm ....
http://fakesteveballmer.blogspot.com
François Bancilhon, CEO of some little Linux company has written an open letter on his blog:
An open letter to Steve Ballmer
He accuses me of bribing the government of Nigeria into replacing their stupid little Mandrovia OS on an order of 17,000 computers with Windows! His deal was already complete, the computers being delivered to schools, the monies paid: when suddenly the Nigerians informed Francois that on delivery the hard-drives would be reformatted and Windows installed!

He rails: "Hey Steve, how do you feel looking at yourself in the mirror in the morning?"

Well Frenchy! I feel pretty good, pretty darned good indeed! I wake up with any of several different ... never-mind. But, I am carried to the shower but my assistants, dressed, groomed and briefed every morning. I feel pretty good indeed!
I would normally ignore any such accusations from you people, but for some reason this one disturbed me, so I told legal to reply, this is their message:

"Microsoft strongly believes that individuals, governments and other organisations should be free to choose the software and other technologies that best meet their needs. We believe Microsoft offers the best overall option of value, integration, interoperability and support, without complexity or added dependency on services."

In other words, it was our strong friendly relationships with certain key government officials, their families and knowledge of their personal "needs" that influenced these persons to scuttle your little OS on these computers. Thats just the way business is done Frenchy! If you can't take the heat get out of the Smoke-hut!

Hi!
My name is Mariano. I am on the edge of deciding whether or not to leave my day job and give 100% of my time to a project I co-founded.

From the conference I believe I will get that final "boost of enthusiasm" to make the jump into the entrepreneurial world PLUS extra know-how and networking possibilities.

Specifically I would like to attend:
Personalization 2.0... 3.0 .. the projection of a personal image
Making things personal... investing
Evolving entrepreuership.

I can easily reach Paris but I can't afford a ticket to the conference.

I'll get the best ROI out of this!!
Best,

Mariano.
