Users get to send one or two greetings for free by email. After that, they cost $0.50 to $3. They’re taking on American Greetings directly, which sells annual subscriptions for $14 (and have an $85 million/year business). JibJab has raised just under $10 million in two rounds of financing.
On a related note, if you have a tech related ghost story, send it over to CrunchGear (and check out their fake haunted swing video).

ok, someone needs to come into my office and take me up off the floor.. hahahahahahahahaha, hhahahahaha, hahahahaha
In my opinion, this is a lame attempt to copy the original concept of Quebecer website “www.tetesaclaque.tv”
Can I have my minute back please?
Oh my god…………. Its a scene from hostel 3!
What’s funny is that PVP has pissed away $10M of OPM on this crap.
“A script is causing Adobe Flash Player to run slowly”
Abort Video!
really Michael, you thought it was that funny? Clever, but not that funny.
Very funny one, I agree ;))))))))
@2 Olivier L: you are right, Têtes à Claques has a similar style. However, JibJab has been around since 1999 and I find their humor a bit darker.
JibJab consistently produces content that makes me want to stab myself repeatedly in the eye.
lol I’m no fan of JibJab but I love their simplicity of integration. I’ll have to check it out more. Most of my information comes through the top stories of Digg, other than those viral pieces, other sites just don’t cut it for me.
Michael, Good stuff!
Not sure why they are taking the pay as you go approach. Hallmark just took the same approach and although I don’t know Hallmarks numbers I would bet they are better off just asking for a subscription fee for a single year. Otherwise, an old concept with a different twist. I wonder why we dont see all those talking dogs, cats, parrotts etc on American greetings anymore.
i loved the video! no one else has consistently made great web videos like JibJab.
Ted-
Thats exactaly it. It’s a video not a greeting.
I agree. Very funny! And $85 million/year for eCards? It’ll be Interesting to see how a new spin on the category plays out…
this video is sick… xD
got to love this ecard
haha, that’s horrifying. I’m also getting the script error though. The video won’t play on this page.
$85 million/year? Is it me or something is very, very wrong in the industry?
The $85 million/year is just for subscriptions and advertising on American greetings which accounts for about 50% of the industry. I have to believe it is a $125 million/year+ category and growing at 15-20% annually.
Just as an FYI, JibJab.com I believe originated from greetings before “This land”.
Michael how about Month2Month.com as an alternative.
Let the viewers decide.

Oh, man. That is just straight-up weak material. I might even rather watch Carlos Mencia. The horror.
Funny?!? Seriously Arrington you have been warned about the Facebook crack/kool-aid mix previously. Think you’re obviously past saving.
I noticed one thing… they got rid of their normal “jib-jab” intro with the two guys in their logo… otherwise, video is so-so.
Jon
They did a “parody” on me and I hate them now! I never sing!

Their videos used to be good, but these latest ones are awful … Night of the Living Republicans/Democrats? Those action/killer scenes …
That woman’s pumpkin-carving technique is horrible. You’ve got to focus on control, if you want good clean designs. So slice, instead of stab. Yeesh, it’s appalling.
Seriously, that was pretty funny.
This is funny. I showed it to my wife and she walked away .. “this is sick .. very sick”. Hilarious!!
gross and funny.
That’s funny!
Very lame. It’s time to admit that JibJab was a one-hit wonder (”This Land”) who hasn’t done anything of real interest or value since ‘04.
OMG! What the hell is wrong with you people? That’s hysterical!
LOL, totally hysterical.
