I use a technique whereby I have someone else read my email when I am hot before I send it on. For example, I just got a 1% raise and my professional training account was cut to near zero.

I wrote an email to the vice president of my firm…but before I sent it…I had the product transfer manager I like and trust read it. He advised I not send it…and he was right.

Also, I have my wife read over emails I think may be angry. It helps avoid bad blood.

i may poke fun at people who appoint themselves experts and are full of crap, but i don’t lie. i have nothing to win and, unlike you, i have nothing to lose. i have no debt, i have no car payments, i live in a house that’s paid for, i have kids in university in europe on merit scholarships who are covered by medical insurance and i have a minimal amount of income from ASCAP which pays the bills. we have one car we bought with cash for seven people. i own one nokia cell phone c 2005. in short, i’m not a conspicuous pig of a consumer. oh yeah, i can read and write, although, unlike your wife who achieved the amazing feat of breeding, i hold no degrees in english literature. but you won’t hear me complaining about how my kids are keeping me from going to wild soireés or wondering where the ROI is.
and funnily enough, i know that tracy chapman is a woman, even though she’s not my neighbour.

Can we get back to reporting on Facebook, Web 2.0, Twitter and iPhones? And leave irrelevant, naricissitic, ego maniacs to their failing, ill-conceived startups?

BTW, Gary Kimball, he was a pothead. Jim warren says so on this video I uploaded in the hot tub scene. Silicon Valley people are hypocrites. I don’t smoke pot(since I was a teen), but I do drink quite a bit of Beer on occasion and I have no tolerance for that sort of hypocrisy.

I would believe Fake Steve before Scoble, because nothing Scoble says ever turns out to be correct, unless some exec told him like 5 minutes before he wrote it. That’s like the only thing Scoble ever gets right.

He was an awesome Smithers to Bill Gate’s Mr. Burns. He should have quit evangelism and turned full time towel boy. He’d be way better off than he is now.

scoble moderates all his comments all the time. he’s just talking sh17 when he says he’s always available and open to discussion. he leaves threatening comments on people’s blogs and then emails them, begging them to take them down. (i have the proof.)

scoble has two sets of rules. one set for himself and one for other insignificant people. he has a friend that works at kinko’s who brings in 100 grand a year? wow, he’s really slummin’ it. is he black too? scoble is a sexist, an ageist, a megalomaniac who lives in a mcmansion, eats jack in the box with his wife while she’s in labour, twitters his kid’s birth and then chastises someone for “not being able to conceive of being offline for any length of time”. at least fsj’s can string a sentence together.

who cares if podtech is going down faster than george michael at a highway rest stop? scoble remains my paris hilton and my favourite food blogger.

Thanks for banning me from your blog and videos – I haven’t been there in ages so who cares? Man, you need to pull your head out of your ass and stop posting stupid comments on Tehcrunch. You look like a moron.

I’m a veteran, trained journalist, who started my own company about two years ago. One of my first business relationships was with PodTech. I produced serious homeland and cyber security issues — not for your typical blog crowd, but for security professionals throughout the corporate and government sectors.

Whatever the current truth is about PodTech, here’s the deal from where I sit (now a former PodTech producer):

PodTech and other sites like it will ultimately fail because they have no editorial leadership. Steve Gillmor wants to make silly videos that he and another 5 people in the universe think are funny. Who has time for that crap?

When I was hired by PodTech in Sept. 2006, it took me three and half months to get Gillmor on the telephone to ask him what his editorial vision for PodTech’s security coverage was so that I could produce toward that vision. His response was “just go do it.” I was completely stunned when I had waited so long to get this guy on a teleconference and he had nothing to offer in terms of being the “editorial director” of a video podcasting outfit that companies are actually PAYING to produce professional content.

I came to PodTech after having worked as a senior journalist for Computerworld, one of the oldest, most respected IT publications in the U.S. I totally expected to encounter a serious editor-in-chief in Gillmor. But I immediately realized that he was only interested in producing his own videos and not leading the editorial department at PodTech.

Scoble is probably a very nice guy, but his videos and interviews lack production value and get annoying. I rarely feel engaged enough to watch the entire video. PodTech would do well to get serious about production value.

Video journalism takes more than owning a handycam and being able to make posts to a blog. You have to know a little something about journalism – like sourcing, vetting, editing, your audience, ethics, standards, etc… none of which exist in any significant quantity in the “blogosphere” and certainly do not exist at PodTech under the “leadership” of Steve Gillmor.

This is a blog folks. quit expecting it to be like a ‘Frontline..’ for startups.

Be sure to have your ounce of salt ready, or in Duncan’s case, a pound of salt.
