Even sites like linux.org is penalized. Especially since it sells totally-unrelated links. It used to be PR9, and now it’s dropped to PR5.

Check linux.org and look at the bottom right “Sponsored Links”. See what I mean?

Page Rank has always been a mystery. It’s like the secret formula for Coca-cola… and, as I can tell from all these comments, it still keeps us guessing. Nice work google for mixing it up.

I have a few sites with a couple hundred weak inlinks and very little traffic that went from a page rank 0 to a 2. I wouldn’t be too confident that the ranking you see today will be there in a few weeks.

I see little to no difference between TechCrunch and the links to all it’s network sites and any other blog farm. Most of your posts have links to CrunchBase plus your blogroll has links to all your network sites. Tell me how that isn’t a blog farm?
