Let’s face it, all blog platforms have horrible editors. I’ve always used an external editor: Windows Live Writer for offline, and even when online, I prefer Zoho Writer.

…but it points to a day soon when all of those Blogger users will be able to write posts even when they are not connected to the Web.

Am I missing something here. Blogger users can still write posts offline like in Windows Live Writer.

good move. I like to think Yahoo! and Google will compete on the desktop, with a range of apps that work offline as well as online, using Gears is the logical step. Imagine if they could make iGoogle offline, effectively running a CMS on your desktop that pulls in Gmail, bookmarks, reader etc.

These google applications like gmail, google reader of blogger can of course be made offline, but what I think most interesting is that such service blurs the difference between offline and online world. For instance, people have been enthusiastic about google docs because it brought word processor online. If google gears or any other such service kick off and it gets integrated with MS Word, then that means that it combines advantage of both google docs and MS Word. I can write content while being offline or online and it will be stored both offline and online. That means it is a very good service!!!
