Interwoven Acquires Optimost For $52 Million

optimost.jpgCMS provider Interwowen has acquired New York City based Optimost for $52 million in an all cash deal.

Optimost provides web optimization services for clients including Ask.com, Auto Trader, Delta Air Lines, FAO Schwarz, Lenovo, and MGM Mirage.

Interwoven said that Optimost’s software-as-a-service model will strengthen Interwoven’s offerings by adding real-time multivariable testing and Website optimization to its portfolio.

The acquisition is expected to be completed in the 4th quarter.

    These guys were serious pioneers in the field. I remember reading about them back in 2001, years before I got around to writing an amateurish a/b testing script.

    Several companies I’ve worked for have used various flavors of multivariate & a/b testing technology, a lot of them grown in house. Even though I’ve never used optimimost’s toolset before, they have a lot of fans and many clients of mine have talked to them.

    Congrats, it seems like a big win for them.

    Multivariate testing is a good thing. If one has a long-standing piece of top-converting creative - something as complex as a landing page or even as elemental as a banner ad - sometimes multivariate can be the only way to go in determining what will make it perform even better. Technically one doesn’t need a dedicated software tool to do it, but a good one still helps… That said, I’ve not tried any of Optimost’s solutions yet, either…
