Full disclosure, I am VP Marketing @ AdMob.

I wanted to reply to Misanthropy Today and clarify AdMob's pricing.

AdMob has two pricing models CPM and CPC. The bidded marketplace on www.admob.com is for CPC ads only today. We establish a bidding floor for many markets of $0.05 per click. In most cases the actual cost per click paid is considerably more than that. I just checked and US inventory was clearing between $0.15 and $0.37 yesterday.

We serve CPM Banners as well. Our rate card ranges from $12 CPM for run of site to above $30 CPM. In the last month, we have served ads for Ford, Cadillac, Progressive, MTV, Comedy Central, CBS and many others.

We work to be transparent with our data. We've recently posted some data on our traffic and devices in our marketplace here: www.admob.com/metrics.

This is a free resource. We want discussions about mobile advertising to be grounded in real #s.

Thanks. Jason

1 Billion impressions per month sounds impressive until you crunch the numbers.... The bottom bid is .05CPM-- which i'm guessing they aren't getting much more than that (if even that).

(whips out calculator)

1,000,000,000/1,000=1,000,000 ( x .05)= $50,000/month..

Now then they have to pay their publishers=$25,000 gross (not including operating costs)

I hope this guy from Google isn't expecting massages or any of that other silliness he's probably used to.

"Oh I don't need an office chair, I use a pilates ball"--Google Employee

(Yes, I am jealous of Google employees somewhat.)

FYI, QC has an airport, but flights here are twice as expensive as Montreal, because the airport fees are out of control. That's why nobody uses it. I really don't mind driving down to pick you up(everybody does that here). I await the info.

"i am calling your bluff beercosoft Chris."

I'm not bluffing, this isn't an "idea". The code and the gauntlet has been laid down into silicon.
If you are indeed from Google, email me from @google.com, and let me know when to head down to Montreal. I'm in Quebec City and will have to drive you up here from the airport. I'll have to leave at 4 if you come up for 7.

If you email, get the flight # and the gate and I will respond with my cell # so I can get a hold of you once you get here.

"Chris R. (16). Are you serious? Why should Google travel all the way to Quebec? A link to your search is enough for them and everyone to compare its results with other search engines."

True dat, but I can't make it live yet. The keyword sales interface is not done. And without selling keywords what good is a search engine? We're not going to give people search results for FREE after all?? No revenue == dumb fscuk.

BTW, LAX to Montreal is like 7-8 hours. It's not a long way. Montreal to freaking Paris is just over 6 with the jet stream. Air travel can do wonders for travel time.

"So a good number of people are leaving Google.Last week some guys left and joined Facebook. But Google being Google will always recruit great replacements for all these guys."

Google can come up to our office in Quebec if it wants to view our new search. I think they'd crap their pants. I invite you Google. We're not paying for your flight though, and you have to sign an NDA and NCSA(non-cloning/supersetting agreement)

Despite that all geekers knew that long before every body, it's feels strange back there ( France ) to see all these senior guys leaving Google. Looks like the rats leaving the boat...

What is new that makes them leave today ? Is it just about the GOOG price or what ?

Or maybe it just means that the price doesn't have any meaning right now and google is intalled like would a state building be. And that there's no creation possible right now inside. (i'm not sure to be clear..)

Can Kevin bring a big change. Hope so , but it wont have a big impact on Google at this point of time. This shows that the market is getting more matured on this subject.
