I saw Yossi speak at the TC40 and also thought he was one of the most grounded and reasonable thinkers I've seen in the Web 2.0 space.
Arrington and Calcanis are the other two that make for the 3 people to listen to about the near term outlook for the web.

Possible your best post ever, Michael. It's so easy to be critical and negative; our society seems to relish in seeing people fail. Wonderful to see a post like this to remind folks that an entrepreneur's failure is just a form of tuition.

I was very fortunate to make the acquaintance of Yossi at the TechCrunch40 show. I have to say he is a simply a marvelous human being. After I met him I could understand what old-time "prophets" would have been like - there is a certain magnetic appeal to him that cannot be easily described. There was a crowd about him at all times, yet he was so easy to approach and start a conversation. He gave his time liberally to everyone, high and low.

Thank you Yossi, if you are reading this!

Inspiring post for startups. The 'speach' also sounds very close to the critic comments in 'ratatouille' towards the end of the movie.

Now only if Michael could reduce his 'facebook' blog entries..

i met yossi one day in i think 1998 or 1999. it was within a few months of when i launched bluefly.com. i had no history on the web, a idea still with some holes in it and not much yet to show. but it didnt matter to him.

yossi is the real deal. that day he found the time to fire me up for the start up battle. he treated me as if i had already succeeded--which was the best kind of inspiration for a young entrepreneur. i haven't forgotten meeting him. every entrepreneur would have a better chance of success if they had an hour with yossi.

yossi, if you are reading these comments (in case i didnt say it then) i want to say thank you, it meant a lot.
