If you give your album away like Radiohead does; on your own site, for free, so that a purchase is really a donation, then I will buy, then I will donate.

And it will be a sign of my *love* for you, and not a sign of my self-interest.

Whether donations are a viable source of income or not, I do feel that the 'New Economy' should give us to possibility to donate. I for one would surely donate. There are just so many albums that I do not wish to own but still enjoy listening to. Right now, the 4 artists I'm listening to most regularly but whose albums I do not (want to) own, would together get 24 euro's if I was able to pay them. But I'm just not gonna buy a digital version, and I'm also not gonna be buying crap I don't want to have just to support them. "Buying" a digital copy or a license to use such a copy is just something I will never do. The concept of intellectual property just doesn't register with me. Call it cultural imcompatibility ;).
