Do they say what the do with the products ? do they resell them afterwards? do they send them to other places that could use them, like asia or africa? do they recycle them?... in the end, I would think the goal is to get other people to use these things as oppose to be sitting in our basements... some peoples outdated products are other people new products.

I've mad an even better offer!
I stumbled upon an old wasteland full of Hardcore Mac Gamers (InsideMacGames.com) the other day.
Upon reading some of their miserable rants in their forum, I began to have sympathy for this bunch. That's when I had a truly inspired idea (God speaking to me again). This is my standing offer to them:

"Hello there my Mac using friends,
We at MS value our many years of strategic alliance with all of you people.
We are so interested in your welfare that we are announcing the Mac Trade-in offer.
For every Mac that you turn in while purchasing a PC with Vista preinstalled, MS will send you a rebate for $75!
Upgrade from Macs to Windows, join the rest of the world and get $75 back to boot.
There is no limit on the number of macs you can turn in!"
The offer is only good for the InsideMacGames community for now, however anyone can register with them.

I know this is an extraordinary offer, but that's just the way I am; extraordinary.

If this little experiment works out with this bunch I will expand it to the entire population of wretched Mac Users!
This could be my greatest accomplishment to date, ridding the world of Mac altogether! All for just a few Billion dollars.

Sometimes I scare myself.

This is a great idea, as a person who has never used eBay to buy or sell as it seems like a pain in the ass. If I can give someone my "junk" and they give me money, that seems like a good idea!

P.S. I will still use the pawn shop when I need cash for my crack though.

Perhaps this is a safeguard for those afraid of being taken by Ebay Con Artists

This way the burden is now on the middleman

The tradeoff here is convenience vs. top dollar.

A quick look at eBay's closing prices for the same items:

Treo 650 ($120-$160 on eBay vs. $85)
Apple iPod mini 4gb ($60-$80 vs. $39)
Canon Powershot G2 ($80-$120 vs. $43)
Garmin Nuvi 660 ($480-$550 vs. $313)
[broken items filtered out for this survey]

In SecondLife's defense they are entitled to a profit, but I'm sure many of these items that SecondLife collects probably end up pn eBay.

If your comfortable selling on eBay, sell it yourself otherwise find someone who can help you.

If there were no market for those "Sell Your Stuff on eBay" stores, there wouldn't be one on every fourth block.

I was surprised that they don't list any satellite radios on that site.

How about a similar site/service, selling parts & accessories? I have antennae, power cords, batteries, etc., from deceased mobile phones, computers, satellite radios....

Kind of sounds like those "Sell your Stuff on eBay" storefronts that I see every 4 blocks around my house. As Andrew said, why wouldn't I just sell it myself on eBay? I can list an item there in 5 minutes.

big deal,
this is nothing new...it's just like many other ebay drop-off stores and sites - but this one caters to mobile devices and pays you on the spot instead of after the auction sale

Maybe I am completely missing something here, but why wouldn't I just sell it myself on eBay? and keep the markup they are going to add for myself.
