Time-waster of the day: Sim Web 2.0. It’s a little flash game that automatically generates a name for your Web 2.0 startup, like Twitcast or Youcrunch, a press clip, and a list of things to do to build the company:

  1. **SPOILER**

    How to win:

Hire as many PR as you can, Go to BubbleCon08 as much as you can. When you run out of PR, re-hire PR. Repeat until you get about 4 million dollars. Advertise on the Super Bowl twice, and voila, you’re acquired by Google. I think I’m ready to do this for real now!

Why not just start a company on your own dime, borrow the rest of what you when you need it, and then make a hefty profit?

Oh, there is a name for that! Web 0.0.

  3. Knight News Challenge

Or you could just write up a proposal for the contest linked above - although it’s not nearly as entertaining as the game or the previous commenter’s options (but you might actually get some funding!).

Yeah, I know. Serious is boring.

I got acquired without hiring PR although, admittedly, it takes some luck. It costs $720K to build all the applications (for page rank 7), and then you have 280K to try to get 3 more page rank through CPM advertising, which seems to be somewhat less than even odds, but possible.

Great idea…very realistic ….I particularly like the idea of no revenue

When we begin to see competition in *this* space, the Bubble is here…

P.S. I’ve already seen many such services :(

    Cheers,

funny… “**SPOILER**” was rite… just hire as many PR consultan as you can. no need to hire any coders or designers (just in real life LOL) and 10 seconds later after clicking around 150 times on Bubble Con 08 you’re acquired by Google…

“Internet superpower, Google, has purchased TechCow Inc for a record breaking 9 billion in cash and stock. ‘It was the pagerank of 10 that really did it,’ a Google spokesperson said.”

    funny funny…

Hey, this has already been done! At http://www.lightsphere.com/dev/web20.html - and the results are scarily realistic.

When you get over a 100 PR Consultants, the cash really stars to roll in. Although the field only shows two digits you do have over 100.
