Not surprised these guys are getting so much action, while a few do it, not many web services cross into the physical world like ponoko does.

I like making unique things to surround me in my environment, making beatifully finished things is very hard though, the pro finish the laster cuter generates is very cool.

Great conference Mike, I like most everyone I talked to had a ball. As well as some great Demo’s i really enjoyed the quality of panelists you had, founders of flickr, blogger, jotspot talking about exits and the like, they were passionate and real and for a web entrepreneur its exactly the sort of inspiration I want to hear.

For those who want videos just keep posted with the companies, Mikes getting them initial exposure and connecting them with you, its up to you now to stay with the companies and get the content as it unfolds,

The issue with Ponoko is they seem to make most of there stuff via a laser cutter. The problem with that is the products really aren’t manufacturer ready. Techcunrch profiled a company incuby that was going to help with this, but hasn’t launched yet. I hear a speaker in Pittsburgh talk about a company called Davison, and they seem to have figured out how to make products fit into corporate product line. They do research, design, prototyping, packaging, and Licensing. Ponoko would need to duplicate that to be successful. Maybe they should partner up with them.

Will you use the voting system conference attendees used to tally up who had the most votes and positive score?

After our 12 hour demonstration I went up to my room at the Palace and immediately checked our votes. We were pleasantly surprised to see we received 36 positive votes (score of 4.0) during that 12 hr period. Upon reviewing all 100 companies and the votes they received, we were in the top 5 out of the 100 DemoPit companies; a non funded company.

“We reached 1 million website hits within 23 hours 27 mins and 6 secs of launch”. Kind of worrying when the CSO is talking about hits rather than visits, page views or visitors.

1 million in 1 day… It will be interesting to see what visits rate ponoko can keep after the initial TC40-effect.

No way no how they got a million hits, we lunched on the same day as techcrunch40 and we are currently 30k up from 2.5 million.
and we are still going up, i remember sending techcrunch a bunch of emailes but i didn’t even get a reply, so i just lunched it with out them.
i got blogged once and then BOOOM am still getting blogged all around the world!! it is such a weird feeling looking at analytics

Dont get me wrong i love TC but they never replied to any of my emailes.
Hey guys, can someone please tell me at what rank does a site become a money maker?
I have not advertised as of yet, I am trying to establish a position before i even think about that.

@les madras: Hits != visitors. He may be right, but no one serious (or worth taking seriously) uses “hits” as a performance measure any more. Having said that, Alexa is also a pretty flakey measure as well.
