Blyk will test the level of consumer acceptance for mobile advertising. I am concerned that a model based on advertising pushed to users may be too intrusive for what is quickly becoming the most personal media ever created. Making the ad-impression relevant and contextual will be the key to unlocking this billion dollar industry and will require intimate involvement of mobile operators who are most in control of the mobile advertising experience.

I just need some smart guy to seed it with 100k and it would blow this noddy thing away. These people are coming at this from the wrong angle.

Post #4 nails part of the problem, the rest of it has to do with what is actually exchanged. If I was Coke wouldn’t I want more from this than some kid looking at a coke ad in class?

#2: In addition, there are studies showing that the closer a medium/object gets to a persons body, the more invasive advertising feels. i.e. A billboard’s not a big deal, but a cell phone ad in your pocket feels wrong.

The key is making the advertising relevant and meaningful. Consumers will accept some level of invasion if it’s personally tailored and relevant.

I miss an important foactor why this is never really going to take off, the user. Your mobiel phone has become your remote control to your life. It has become a fashion statement saying something about your personality. I doubt that many people will let their personal space be polluted by advertisement.
