3jam uniquely positions itself as a "many to many" or "multi-peer to multi-peer." That is a USP over generic texting offered by operators, which enables "one to many" or "one to one" as replys. Notwithstanding the focus on the consumer experience here, the real value is to operators who can mitigate, aka delay, their entry into the Mobile IM space, and continue capturing high revenue streams from "old pipes" meaning extend the value proposition of core SMS. Watch this company....

If I had known about this, it would have saved me alot of headache when I was trying to organize a simple outing with 20 people. Luckily it will be a breeze now that I"m hooked up.

I don't know how they got ahold of the Alpha, but wait until the 4th quarter of '08 when we release v1.0. You will see how this is really suposed to work!

Kent,
I was thinking the same way.

Then i realized it is slightly different and here it is..( I came to know only after using it )

- You send a SMS message to 3 of your friends x. y ,z
- And if X wants to reply to all, he can just reply and all( y, z and yourself will get the message )
- It is just slightly different.( In a way it is like Distribution List )
- I am sure Google will be coming up with a similar feature ( : )

I've looked at 3jam before...what is it exactly is so different about their messaging service that's different again?
Most carriers/phones already have group text messaging.

Their website says that:

Q: If I use 3jam to group text with multiple people, do I pay for an outgoing message to each person?
A: No! You only incur the cost of the one outgoing message sent to 3jam. 3jam then sends your message to all the other recipients of the group text.

wow this could really save money if you are like me who try to coordinate stuff via text messaging.

Once again, America, you're welcome.

We only know how to do things one way at Virgin: innovative, useful, and stylish. You don't see those wankers from AT&T or Verizon doing this! (Or T-Mobile or Vodafone over on our side of the pond.)

Warm regards,
Sir Dick
