We just got permission to post this - On top of everything else we’ve got planned, Google will present something at TechCrunch40 next week. Like the AOL and Yahoo product launches, it will not be eligible for the $50,000 top prize awarded to the best new startup product. But they will present it in front of the main crowd, and audience comments and questions will be part of the show.

oooooh. first.
I hate to do this but:
Will build Facebook application for airfare + hotel accomodations + TechCrunch ticket.
*hangs head in shame*
The only thing i can think of is on-line presentation from google which is not open to public from google.
I love TechCrunch, faithful reader. Would kill to attend TC Con 40, but d-a-n-g… $2,500.00?!
Any plans on creating a TC Con that us common folk can attend?
google is presenting, lol: This…Changes…Everything.
Good job Michael! Will Sergey and Larry be there too?
techcrunch20,30,40,50,60,70,80,90,100.com’s are registered by TC, what does this mean? are there going to be TC50,60,70,80,90,100 down the road???
Mike,
When are you going to publish a list of who is presenting? Are you going to have live updates from the event?
Thanks
Andy, The list will be available Monday morning on the techcrunch40 website. Yes, live updates will be happening from the event, and videos of the demos will be up shortly after they are recorded.
Google Powerpoint/Presentations (whatever they call it) hopefully will finally be released. I was so expecting it to be released during the office 2.0 conference that just passed….. wasn’t the product supposed to be released end of summer???
Michael, for the love of god, how can a start up join next years event, is there an aplication?
thank you
Seriously, $2500 just to be there is simply not in the budget. I was lucky I got to expense the $25 for WordCamp.
You guys can’t get away with dissing me! I want to be THE keynote speaker!

Mike,
You’ve turned this interesting conference that would showcase interesting startups upside down! By allowing these big companies to launch stuff, you are allowing them to steal attention from startups that lack PR departments. Quite frankly, this conference will be worse than DEMO for small startups.
I knew it would be Microsoft or Google. I even posted as much when you hinted a few post ago…
Congrats on a killer lineup!
Earth to Fake Steve Ballmer: STFU
Looking forward to the updates on monday.
I think Google need to pull a bigger rabbit out of their hat than just a Presentation App.
Google have been very slow lately on many expected new products and features.
Here is a brief list of laggards;
- IM/Voip/Conferencing with Gtalk / Grandcentral / Marratech aquisitions.
- Cloud Storage with GDrive.
- Google Apps Presentation, Wiki and other collaborative features in Apps.
- Google Phone.
- Google Health
- Open API Social Application
- More Google Gears enabled applications.
- “Be Mine” computing or GoogleOS (presumably with Greenborder / Postini aquisitions)
- Gmail out of Beta…as well as other products.
Maybe one or more will be addressed? Have I forgotten any?
I agree with # 14 about, the original focus of highlighting startups is being diluted…
That said, I certainly understand the why TC is doing this, and what the hey, 40 companies are still pitching for free….
I do think there should now be TWO $50,000 prizes though, and a free ride on Google’s jet.
Hey — What about Walmart ?
Cool, web2.0 wouldn’t be complete with the one who started all the hype and excitement again . GOOG.

Michael,
Who is presenting from Google?
a) Product manager with a new release?
b) Cute engineer with a new widget?
c) Someone from their corporate development?
d) David Lawee, VP Marketing at Google - yes Google has a marketing dept!
Who is Google?
We need some Tech Crunch Events on the East Coast. How about Tech Crunch NYC 2008?
Thanks…………Rob

Isn’t the whole point of TC40 to get exposure for companies that otherwise don’t get exposure?
GOOG has lots of exposure, I don’t understand why you would have them present.
Still waiting for response & hope…
TC is next week Sep 17 & 18 Mon & Tue
If Google App is presenting next week, then Google Jotspot (G-Spot) can ask for permission to speak the week after TC40. Anyone there at Google can check out the possibilities?

Isn’t the whole “google is god” thing a bit tired now?
Michael seems to go for the google-mania on this one….at the expense of probably very deserving small startups. A real shame…could be foreshadowing the movement of techcrunch to just another industry mouthpiece…too bad, it did so well for so long
google is presenting, LoL …
Just wondering what Google will present but I don’t think they should be there in the first place.
Won’t Google, Yahoo, and AOL overshadow the 20… oops, I mean 40 start ups that are presenting? How will a poor little start up get a chance to shine in this crowd?
Maybe it will be the Google phone?
I was thinking maybe they got Steve Jobs.
I was pretty sure it wouldn’t be Nick Denton.
Sweet deal.
My guess is that this is something related to adding JotSpot to Google Apps.
Google == Startup
FATAL ERROR…
zenter must be the reason for this.
@china… no time… no$
“We just got permission to post this”.
nice journalism there.
@ Sam: notice that Mikey has replied to other posts in this thread, but not yours–just as he didn’t to my similar post yesterday.
Answer: Screw you, peasant.
I checked out this “Googel” company you mention. Decent search product it seems, although how they’ll compete with Yahoo’s traffic I don’t know. Perhaps someone can fund this startup?
Is there a rule that only one post per person per thread? Or do my posts get removed for some other reason?
1 ticket still available at regular price!!
