SixApart have announced an iPhone interface for their popular hosted blogging solution TypePad.
The new interface is automatically presented when an iPhone or iPod Touch is detected and allows users to create and edit posts, manage comments, configure mobile settings for posting photos directly from an iPhone, and view a published blog, all from an iPhone friendly layout.
Proving what good corporate leadership can provide for (soon to be) open sourced tools, the interface has been ported to the MovableType platform and is available for download as a completely open source plugin.
Movable Type’s Byrne Reese claims that the release of the MT plugin gives bloggers another reason to buy an iPhone, but in the cut throat blogging CMS business it may well give users a greater incentive to switch back to MovableType.

I don’t own an iPhone yet but hopefully Wordpress will get this ability by the time that I do.
Exactly, but I’m sure it won’t take the wp guys long once they see this!
With the increasing number of applications for the iPhone and now the iPod Touch, dont you think Apple should give a name to this psuedo platform (because it isnt really a platform but just websites in Safari), something like iPlatform or just iForm?
Big props to Six-a-Part for making this freely available, but expect the WordPress equivalent soon.

Let Wordpress follow the suit, then 90% of the Blogosphere is iPhonized!
Port WebKit over to WinMo - 90% of SmartPhone’s will have FULL internet.
I can easily say that the i* (phone and touch) movement has been the worst thing to happen to the web in the past 10 years.
Design your mobile apps to standards, don’t waste your time designing for 1 mobile browser. What a horrible waste of time.
xxdesmus, that’s been the argument for every other platform until now, but THIS time it’s genius to create a completely new set of tools for one platform. Ironically, it’s for a web browser that is touted to let “you see web pages the way they were designed to be seen.” Seems like if the interface was as great as claimed, there wouldn’t be so much demand for customized interfaces.
Wordpress has had this for 2 MONTHS.

(there are a half dozen others as well)
Just goes to show (once again) Duncan’s bias, as well as inability to conduct a google search for “wordpress iphone plugin”.
Interesting to promote sites under this great Apple solution!
i.typepad.com works on the blackberry too.

Apple is doing great job of aligning themselves with what we do(blogging). Some of us love to blog on the go and the iPhone will make it so easy.
Will they offer WordPress and Blogger Interfaces ?
I think so but i am wondering when.
I have been blogging to my Wordpress blog using my iPhone. I think the story here is not about the capability to post, but the prettiness of it?
Actually, there is a working wordpress iPhone / Touch interface for wordpress blogs: http://iwphone.contentrobot.co.....and-theme/
In china,we can’t use iphone to do anything ,except Calling! : (
Anonymouse and Brad Grier, I think the plugin you’ve pointed to is for outputting your blog in iPhone-compatible format — as with other platforms, MT and TypePad have had stylesheets to do that for months.
What’s new here is I have a rich experience for creating entries, managing comments, and adjusting my blog’s settings, all on an iPhone. (Or, as Ed pointed out, on my Blackberry, where I use Opera Mini.)
That’s all possible because of some interesting platform features; MT uses the same template tags to generate its user interface as it does to publish pages, which means you can make alternate interfaces like this one without even having to know PHP or anything. (See: http://www.movabletype.com/blo.....-temp.html )
At any rate, the MT plugin is free (and open source) and TypePad has a free trial — I’d try out the tools yourself and see how they work.
Well, that does it. So long to my Blackberry.
I don’t like this! I don’t know why, but it must be evil if it’s associated with the iPhune thingy!

At least try to make sense dude…
Very nice
I can’t wait to get my iPhone.
My son just told me he wishes he had a lot of money so he could buy me one. He’s so adorable (8).
Cool!
