Ok, I’ll have to admit: this is wholly unscientific: I’m kind of lukewarm to facebook, and most of what I’ve read about it comes from members of sites like digg, who are, obviously, vocal, quick to form semi-irrational opinions, and largely outside the mainstream (even on a tech-ish social network like Facebook.)

So I don’t know what it means. I think they’ve done a pretty good job with their API, and it’s quite impressive to have spent so much effort and time on making their system open (although it’s open in a closed sort of way, interestingly enough.)

It would be intriguing to unveil WHO initially thought of this new business model - and what resistance they got at first.
