Ha - this is funny. I really needed this feature over the weekend and just assumed it was there - Google usually adds search to everything else, so I assumed they had done to reader as well. Love it, however I'm glad I didn't look for it when it wasn't there - I would have thought it would be the first thing they would have included given that they insist on search and labelling rather than folders for gmail!

My big thing is for Google Reader to show comments. Even if it's only a single update 24 hours after the post, that would be good. Or a manual option.

The drop-down combo is just stupid.
If I am searching for something there is nothing better than just type-and-click search, the way google does.

Get rid of that!

they also changed the silly "All items (100+)" to "All items (1000+)" -- at least for me. 1000 is a much better number, but I had no clue I had that many new items.

The thing I wish Google Reader would integrate is sharing of information across their properties. I am a sucker for the little RSS snippets on the top of my Gmail and have added a whole bunch of RSS feeds through Gmail. Sadly, every time I open Google Reader I realize that my snippet feeds are not present in Google Reader and I don't have the energy to go and add them all to Google Reader. Adding a feed in Gmail and having it show up in Gmail and vice versa would be a killer feature, for me at least.

I also think it's funny that Google didn't have search on the Reader until just recently, you would think that would be the first thing implemented, after all, they are a search company...
