Digpicz delivers a much asked for, and yet to be delivered feature of Digg: picture browsing.
Digpicz comes from Peteris Krumins, the same guy behind the unofficial multimedia-only version of Reddit, RedditMedia.
Details of how the site was made can be found here. Digpicz pulls its data from the Digg API so it should be fairly accurate and thorough, although as an unofficial site with a logo and name that is bound to cause trademark issues it will be interesting to see whether it’s left alone by Digg itself.

Excellent
as long as this site has some kind of revenue model…digg shouldn’t stand by and do nothing, if this is banking on digg’s name and popularity with their concept
I doubt he did this for revenue, I think he did it because he could, and because Digg are being a little slow with this feature.
Digg Pictures is coming in October, as told by Kevin in the digg blog.
Hopefully a picture section doesn’t mean that we won’t see pictures on the main page of digg with all the other articles. That’s what happened to the videos section before it got “re-integrated” to the front page of digg-ed articles by default.
Testing to see if comments can be published–sorry to do this live.
The popularity of That site is unprecedented in the effect it is having on Digg Picture Submissions…
My Submission made the homepage at 50 Diggs yesterday, but was buried after 10 minutes after getting 90 Diggs.
Once that Digg Picture site made the homepage - it automatically archived and updated every Picture that made the homepage….
My submission made the homepage a few hours earlier so it was at the top of that new site which was getting thousands of Diggs

in just one day - EVEN After being buried - the submission got 300 Diggs and 20 comments
It’s almost jaw droppingly amazing how long it has taken digg to debut their official picture category. They’ve been talking about it for months - what’s the hold up? It should be dead simple to implement.
This will get a C&D letter by the time the week is out. The look and feel will be the reason. I hope they have another name and design on hand.
Forget about the C&D, that guy seems to be very smart at the age of 22 and has already build some really cool things. Check his blog for redditmedia …
This is an ok app. What’s really missing on the net is content though, not mashups.
As smart as he may be, I still expect digg to send a C&D letter.
Its time for someone to hire this guy
“Its time for someone to hire this guy”
Oh Please, he is only 22
“Oh Please, he is only 22″
So, what’s wrong with that?
Well done..
