Ok people if Paypal have caused you distress here is a cheap way to cause them some back …especially if you are a power seller …it takes one of there people a couple of days to get this in order …to their expense only costs you a tenner …ENJOY

Also, we are now getting dozens of spontaneous cancellations, i.e. cancellations not initiated by the Subscriber, nor by us, and not caused by payment source failures /alterations.

PayPal, it appears, is cancelling subscriptions.

Our system relies on PayPal Subscriptions not only for our members, but on behalf of our members: we’re Sentrylogin.com, the login service / member management system with the most complex and robust Subscriptions IPN Handler designed for PayPal that you can imagine.

Many, many of our payments have not gone through. (Payments to us). And not just lately; we researched the last 6 months and uncovered a slew of non-process glitches where PayPal failed to charge the customer on our behalf, some for 3 months straight! The subs are still shown as Active.

We will be filing an FDIC insurance claim since PayPal is essentially a bank and this represents a significant loss to our business. We will also file a complaint with the Comptroller of the Currency. We urge other merchants so affected to do the same.

Actually the outage is only making PayPal richer. They get to sit on the money & earn more & more interest on it. This has to be quite a large chunk of $$, I imagine the interest is going to be a nice addition to their bottom-line.

I doubt they’re in a hurry to fix the “issue”.

Isn’t that lovely – most of my subscriptions are scheduled to come in at the end of the month. We’re working on setting up an alternate system anyway.

All my late paypal subs finally came in, but based on the “next payment date” it seems they will continue to come in late. Not a big deal but due to the end of month timing, a few days late pushes some payments into the next month/billing cycle.

Anyone else notice this?

Not the first time this has happened – see http://feedblit...p-problems.html and http://feedblit...n-problems.html – seems to me they have QA problems with upgrades. After these repeated failures and other problems with their subscription services we made the investment to switch new subscriptions to a different service. Reading this, I’m glad we did.

FWIW to those on this thread, FeedBlitz is now a very happy user of Authorize.Net’s automated recurring billng (ARB) service. Good XML API, I’d recommend them to others lookin for an alternative subscriptions payment provider to PayPal.

So I’ve had a total of 5 Cancelations. 1 Of them has emailed me back saying its paypal’s fault, he loves the hosting he has, somewhat begged and pleaded to get back on. I pointed him to this thread, and he got even more upset.

So in total paypal, I believe you’ve cost me about $100 a month so far. I hope everything is allright now, I seem to be getting payments in.

Keep in mind these cancelations are all between Sep 1st – Sep 2nd 2007. I am pretty sure I will be hearing from these customers shortly, due to the superior services I run, however still unacceptable, saying no subscriptions were canceled because of this issue is rediclious.

Yah, something appears to be fixed. I just received two monthly subscriptions from people that were both several days over due.

Now, hopefully they figure out the canceled sub problem. We normally have maybe 5 cancelations per month, but this morning there were 3 all within a few hours, and they are all from people who are paying yearly, which means that problem doesn’t seem to be directly related to the subscription problem, as these people all had at least 6 months left until their next payment was due.

@Neville: after seeing your post, I checked our logs and it looks like 6 of our outstanding PayPal subscriptions have shown up between 5:58 and 6:18pm . It’s a start, at least.
