It is getting boring . But that is because all the cool shit is way to expensive. When we have unlimited bandwidth and we can have live VIDEO and AUDIO streams that ar HD quality and we can all have our own TV Shows from our living rooms . Then it will be entertaining but that shit is tooo expensive right now.

I read all these replies and found that boring is as boring does. As a baby boomer I can tell you what most of the people that I know, work with, and associate with. We don't care about the technology part, what we care about is having the information that we want. I don't want to put a word in the search engine and get fifty million things totally unrelated to what I was looking for. I don't want to go to a web site and all that is there is more links. (It's like padding the internet.) We don't want to sit and wait for all the flashy things to load on your site before we can even try to find the info that is suppose to be on your site. We don't care about google rank, yahoo rank. If I am looking for entertainment then it's OK for the flashy thingies.
Is the internet dead "NO." It's alive and kicking. There are things for the young and old. Is the internet "boring" "NO." Remember when you were a child and you told your parents that you were bored. Didn't they tell you to find something to do or create something?
If you find the internet boring do something about it and stop whinning.

Sure, the internet is not the explosive, intelectual, mind blowing and informative net we all invisioned when it was created.... but boring?
Not to the millions of people who spend way to much time online for it to be healthy for them. If I had lots of money I would be bored too, who need virtual when you can have reality.....

Familiarity breeds contempt (aka - 'the internet is boring').

I'm reminded of that old tale of the director of the US Patent Office who, many moons ago, suggested the office be closed as nothing more could possibly be invented.

What impatient creatures we have become. More, bigger, more, bigger, newer, more, bigger, better, I'm bored, more, bigger, better, faster, - please, I'm bored.

To the creative abundance awaits.

Great Post by Cuban - I think the only thing question is his choice of words. When he says boring he actually means stable. Stable results in a flood of new applications, sites and ways we can access the net, stable (boring) can actually make the net as a whole more interesting....

Cuban did choose the right word - who would have gotten excited about a post that read "The internet is stable"

Hey Cuban,

Think you're wrong and short-sighted on that opinion, although then again, I haven't bothered to read the original article. Anyway, I handed you a business card about a month back, you haven't called, and then here you go bashing Web 2.0. YOU... yes, you, of broadcast.com... is that domain even still registered anymore? Anyway, here's to you (a) wishing you'd called and (b) being proven dead wrong before the end of the year.

The better question is: where is the internet going and what should change to make it more and more attractive.
One of the ways to look at the new internet is the way we view the web. Look at the direction SWOOT is going, or as David Blumenstein recently mentioned to me "browserless browsing". Imagine you don's need a browser to support your online content and it can freely float over the users desktop without borders and limits in design and functionality....

I think that would help getting rid of the boring part and exchange it to an amazing new way to show web content.

Apparently, bored stiff by the internet, Cuban has decided to put on his dancing shoes, joining Wayne Newton, a former Spice Girl and 90210's Jennie Garth for the next season of Dancing With The Stars.

It may not be quite dead and boring.

But it's on life support and I find my collection of belly button lint from major sports figures to be of more interest.

Seriously, there's only so much porn, Lindsay Lohan, bill paying, stealing mp3s, and watching people build themselves up in oddball places like MyFace or SpaceBook or Gizmocrunch before you hit critical morass.

The web was designed as a utility, that's what it's used for, and there's nothing wrong with that.

For most people the web is boring: email, news, weather, the occasional so-so video. That's why we invented auditoriumA.com - to concentrate all the fun and interesting video, audio, and articles into a single place. We do the boring search work while our members have the fun.

Internet is evolving but at a pace that we don't see... for instance, we all age on a daily basis but unless you go without seeing somebody for a few months (or years), the subtle changes are unnoticeable.

Mark Cuban is an idiot. Oh wait, I forgot he must be smart since he solves the world's problems on his personal blog. Btw, Yahoo is still kicking itself for acquiring broadcast.com.

Anyone who thinks the internet is dead and innovation has stopped is totally lost.

This Cuban comment will go down in the history books next to the idiot from the patent office who said everything had been invented.

The internet is only now starting to really show its real potential. Far from dead. What a moron.

I agree to some extend that internet has become less innovative. But saying that internet has become 'boring' can be a bit extreme statement today.

Mark Cuban is a moron. A rich one though. The internet is not boring. Its just harder to find the innovation among the crap out there. But its there. Virtual worlds, tv on demand, local search, 3d web, semantic web, AI, fiber optics, wi-max, mobile apps, the list goes on.

The explosive growth of sites like youtube and facebook say differently to me. It's hard to imagine life without being able to find things on youtube etc.

Yeah, it is a little boring for the most part, but then, without a little boredom and the lolcats phenomena I wouldn't have just thrown together http://icanhaz.com
