I retract my statement on the upgrade script. there is one of those. I just didn't see it. But I don't retract my personal feelings about Matt. He really does need to fucking grow up.

He's a damn rich kid, who thinks his shit don't stink, plain and simple. thinks he can program and acts like he's fucking God. trouble is, Wordpress isn't even HIS product. It was something he modified and put a name on. Improvements aside, it's not an original idea. it's just "Spooned" product or as I like to call it, A barrowed program, changed to suit his interests. and make him some money.

Other than that. I like the product.

Well....well...well.... It is certainly nice to see that I am not only person who happens to think the way I do about Matt.

I started out on Wordpress.com and because I "supposedly" abused his little precious little tag system, the little rich kid gave me a hard time. I told him to basically f-off and Die. I went to Logger for a while, and then got some free hosting. Now I run his piece of Stolen, errr... uhmmm, I mean, Spooned Software, It's nice, It lacks alot of things, that I think ought to be available, like a real functional UPGRADE SCRIPT! But, that's to be expected among amateur script kiddies.

I take comfort in knowing that I am not the only person who thinks the Matt is a real chode, and based upon what I've read here. My suspicions about him were right on target.

A) I have no issues with people making money with open-source, as long as the code stays open-source. If you don't like something, you should be able to change it to suit your needs. But I don't think it's realistic, fair or beneficial to prevent someone from making enough money to support their open-source efforts.

B) I think it's long overdue for someone to develop a system by which blog spam can be reduced to a trickle. I'm working on a system as a part of a blogging app called Jockey which I think will be quite effective.

The bottom line is that the code is open-source. Everyone's got different motivations. I think of it as live and let live. I think what people need to focus on is not what platform they're using, but that there are standard APIs for working with and administering those platforms.

Wordpress is a great tool. But it's the beginning, not the best that ever will be.

<blockquote>By the way, according to Matt, the money earned goes to Wordpress.org, not Automattic.</blockquote>

As I said on Wank's post: <strong><em>And you truly expected him to say otherwise?</em></strong>

But it does raise another question in my mind...does WP.org=Matt's bank account? I would like to know where money raised for the WP.org software actually lands. Is there a separate foundation/account set up for it? Or does the community depend on Matt's accounting skills?

Now, just for clarification, I personally don't know where the money goes and have no <em>inside</em> knowledge. I'm simply pointing out that it's not likely for people to admit their mistakes or indiscretions when asked in open forum.

Aforementioned 'Browse Happy' thing contains a Google affiliate link for Firefox with Google Toolbar, btw; worth a dollar or so per install. I wonder does that have anything to do with why the highly important and not at all rude and intrusive link to the outdated website couldn't be removed or discussed?

Matt, if I'm not in a blacklist, please explain why my posts always disappear when I post with the 'drmike' account when I post to any of the wordpress forums? (I believe I've asked that before but have not gotten an answer.)If I'm not in a blacklist, please explain what is occuring and what is being done to fix the issue. (I've asked that as well.)

If you have received complaints about me, this is the first I've heard of them. It also troubles me that no staff member (not even you) could have taken five seconds to forward them along to me or tell me that there was an issue. I guess those thousands of questions I answered in the forums didn't warrant that. This isn't the first time you've screwed over a volunteer either.

Matt, Mark recently <a href="http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=14978&page&replies=33#post-109725" rel="nofollow">lied</a> in the wp.com forums and I asked for a retraction. I made a complaint about his actions. If complaints are so important to you, please explain when you will follow up on it. It would be nice to see if ethics even mean the smallest amount with you and your company. Folks have questioned them since a lot of what you do isn't that whitehat.

A position that I did not ask for but you dumped in my lap I point out again. One where you still have never thanked me for. I did much butt covering for you and your employees. So glad it was well received.

You have never told me that I could continue using the Akismet lisences and, considering all the issues that exist with Akismet, were removed quite some time ago. Thanks but no thanks.

Matt, when are you going to grow up?

I meant "Matt", not "Mike" in my previous post, sorry.

Thanks for the summary, Hristo! This is all clear to everybody but to Matt. No wonder though - if he was able to grasp the fact that he is wrong (or in general - admin any of his faults), he would never allow this to happen. But he's always right and he finds all means are worth using it seems.

Mr Matt,
Nice summary of what Mr Kolev did! Now, let's summarize what you did, or actually, what you have not done.

1. Your employee hijacked Mr Kolev's account without even trying to contact him
2. Your employee tried to hijack other accounts of Mr Kolev, using personal information Mr Kolev trusted you with
3. You protect your employee and truly believe what he has done is a good thing
4. You never responded to Mr Kolev's appeals and completely ignored him before the $#!+ hit the fan here
5. You accuse Mr Kolev of harassment while he attempts to restore his account with all legal means, including his right of free speech
6. You change your company policy overnight without notice in advance, or even after the facts. Obviously you think your users are idiots and won't notice?
7. You lied multiple times stating that Mr Kolev's account termination was done with his knowledge and that you offered him compensation for taking his subdomain
8. You are deleting and moderating peoples' comments, trying to minimize the publicity of the whole thing

I am pretty sure the list will go on, but there are people closely monitoring the case, Mr Matt. You are going down :)

Mike, I'm Bulgarian, too, you know it already, so, stop it please! You're the one discriminating Turkish people!

No, I did not hijacked a thread. The thread was about your morals and mine post was right on the topic.

Don't tell me if I need my account or not - I was just about to start using it otherwise how would I get to know it got hijacked? Your buddy is not using it either. I never said I don't need the subdomain or especially my username. It's true that I haven't posted anything, but I recently logged in using my "nikolay" username, so, stop lying! Your buddy hijacked both, because he's obsessed with "nikolay" it seems - he's not different than you Matt and that's why you sympathize to him so much.

You don't consider this an issue, because it's more comfortable for you. You never admit fault, do you?

I still want my subdomain and account back! You cannot backdate my account suspension, so, stop twisting the reality again and again explaining why my account got suspended with actions done after it was already suspended.

drmike, you were removed as a moderator because we received numerous complaints about your contributions, not because you agreed or disagreed with our policies, which are not a big deal anyways. We did not add you to an Akismet blacklist, or cancel your API key, or tell the aliens where you live. I even donated money to your laptop fund and said you could continue using the free $500/mo Akismet license for your blogs and those you host.

Mr Kolev, you hijacked a thread on a completely different topic, called me and my company mobsters, insulted my age and morals, accused my employee of illegal criminal behaviour, suggested the whole thing was because of his Bulgarian nationality, and all for a free blog account you registered two years ago and never used. I don't even think WordPress.com would be right for you because you wanted a VIP account, which you never qualified for in the first place. I'm sure your life will be fine without the account, just like it was for the two years you never used it.

I don't consider the issue worth spending any more time on.

I wrote a comment on Matts blog but it disappeared, I find that a bit strange of him because it wasn't rude, but I actually have no problem with someone making money as long as it doesn't embed advertising or somesort into the software, I also said that the condemnation should stop as it doesn't get anybody anywhere, so what, the creator has another chance to remove the links and find an alternative to his budgeting problem.

@drmike; I must admit wanks blog is quite funny to read, I added it to my bookmarks, but I carefully pick out whats true and whats not though. Although I do generally find a 'bitch' blog because it sounds that way, it isn't too far off the mark.

<blockquote>That it was changed with no notice is a bit underhanded.</blockquote>

That's par for the course actually. It was one of the reasons why I got removed at the wp.com support forum moderator when I called them on a policy change with no announcement.

Phil: "Do you think that’s different from embedding ads in Vanilla? Most users don’t know how to disable the QuickSearch. Most don’t even know that Mozilla makes money off of it."

It's *massively* different. Here's why.

Selling links for pagerank is against Google's terms of service. Their webmaster tools include a "report paid links" link, even.

In other words, having paid links on your website can get you kicked off the Google search index. Is Vanilla warning users "hey, this could get your site nuked in Google"?

Mozilla's technique will not harm Mozilla users. Vanilla's will hurt Vanilla users.
