European web chat startup eBuddy, which is in a fight-to-the-death struggle with Silicon Valley based Meebo, just added support for MySpace instant messaging tor their product.
eBuddy now supports MySpace IM, AOL, ICQ, GoogleTalk, MSN and Yahoo. Log in to some of all of these services from the eBuddy home page.
MySpace says they now have over 18.5 million users of the service, which soft launched in September 2006. By comparison, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ and AIM have 224 million, 93 million, 30 million and 30 million users, respectively (Comscore worldwide – July 2007). GTalk trails the rest, with just 4.8 million users.
Rumor is that Trillian, a downloadable piece of software that also accesses all major IM networks except Skype, will be adding MySpace support soon, too.

Hi Michael,
A question. Is MySpace with IM, Mail, a WebOS?
Mario
no i do think soooooooooooooooooooo
If Trillian adds Myspace IM, it’s all over (in my opinion). They’re program is so user friendly. I really like what they got going on…. Meebo, not really a fan of that one.
Are you sure those numbers are correct?
AIM is in last place with only 30mm users????????
Advantage of eBuddy over Trillian is that nothing needs to be installed since it’s browser based. People in schools and workplaces may have issues installing the MySpace native client on shared computers. Often IM ports are blocked, so eBuddy brings MySpace IM to them. Since I’m a mac user, Myspace chat was not available for this platform and now it is! Nice going eBuddy!
Wablet has cooler features including keeping track of your profiles on different pages.
Hi there. Thanks for the news. I was thinking someone should merge all this, but my test-drive of iBuddy yielded only negative results so far… will give it another shot.
@ Andrew Fogerty same here sometimes : MacBlock. Some IM services have added web-based features and also, some of those one can run via iChat/Jabber.
Will take this feature piece into account in next VOIP/IM related post (that will happen too one day). So thanks.
@ Ria,
wablet.com gives following message: Status: 500 Internal Server Error….?%?!!?? Soo much for cooler features
ebuddy on the other hand works very well and looks really nice!
Matt
224 million users for MSN?! I don’t think so.
me niether and how are you
The old ebuddy could be considered a bit clunky, but the new version they have now is very impressive! A nice clean interface that does not use a whole browser page.
@ Ann Marie Simard
I believe MySpace used to have a webmessenger too, but I can no longer find it. So as for MySpace IM on mac, eBuddy is the only IM client which supports MySpace. Come to think of it they are probably the only IM client besides MySpace’s native IM client which supports MySpaceIM.
I think trillian is the one that I will use for long term. meebo is kind of slow, and it doesn’t have much of the extra addons you can get in triliian. Now I am just using MSN and skype. Most of my friends are on skype and my company uses skype internally.
Why use it if there’s a software that aggregates your friends from all social networks and offer you to IM with your myspace and facebook friends?!
I just use 8hands
FUCK YOU BITCH
Nice job eBuddy. Always favoured them over Meebo. Very impressive to see the latest new developments there. However, Meebo is also doing some interesting stuff…
But isn’t there going to be a web version of Trillian Astra? Then surely it would also support MyspaceIM.
I will wager a fairly high bet that they used the code for the Pidgin plugin msimprpl. It’s not in the official build (yet), but it works.
