I think you should have had a third option with regard to Facebook.. a “Don’t Care” option or something.

I keep an eye on the Facebook stuff, but I’ve stopped going to my Facebook profile just to save time and avoid always knowing what everyone else is up to. (I moved out of the city to get away from it all….)

I’m a web designer/IT guy. But, I’m still in highschool-so, the only option that fitted me was student. I don’t really smile, or grumble, over facebook news. I’m not big on facebook (or myspace, or social networking at all). I read TC cause I like hearing about the latest in internet/computer stuff.

Doesn’t anyone think this whole “social networking” thing is a house of cards that will come crashing down, inevitably, just like the subprime mortgage market or the dotcoms in 2000?

I mean, it’s great that Facebook and Myspace have all these members, and all these ads, but in the end, they’re JUST websites like any other site.

I think it’s interesting that the perception a lot of people have is that TC gives them exposure to VC and prospective people at companies like FIM, google, etc., yet the majority of the readers from the poll say they are founders of start ups. I’ve wondered for six or so months if TC’s audience shifted in audience because of the level of knowledge/experience that has seemed to change in the comments people post. The comments used to be a lot different. It makes sense reading this now.

I like the site. It’s still one of the best. I could care less about what companies are covered, the analysis of whether or not it’s a good idea or has a place in the market is what I’ve always found insightful.

Yea, I kept Wilson’s choices for the first poll because I thought they were pretty good and it might be interesting to compare them.

But I did simply fail to realize that IT wasn’t included – sorry about that. I’ve worked in IT, too, so it’s not like I don’t appreciate the category =). I’d add it now, but I don’t want to change things midstream.

I really enjoy TC. I just think some of your original objectivity has waned. It’s hard to compartmentalize when you’re a lawyer, an entrepreneur, and making an excellent stab at journalism. One thing I didn’t think you would be is a cheerleader or evangelist. Throw that into the mix and it gets boring. Many read and never post. I wonder if the same companies on the front page turn them off. I know I don’t read the Washington Post anymore due to the same old crap all the time. It gets old. Not sure what the poll will tell you but whatever it is, I hope you take heed.

I sweated my balls off in IT for 30 years and finally sold my company so I could do whatever I want to do in life and the only category I can choose above is “other?” I almost chose “angel” but any hi tech startup I ever invested in other than my own turned me into an idiot or so my accountant told me so there will be no more of that.

Facebook- Grumble, grumble.

But I do read you daily. Best damn site on the internet. Keep it up.
