@Michael: It amazes me the kind of stuff that VCs will put money in these days.

You’re the first person to mention VCs in this post. These are very small “show me” angel investments. No one should be shocked if nothing substantial comes out of this. More interesting will be to see where all these founders are in five or ten years. This is basically a true startup bootcamp that can only help them down the road.

Without judging this crop of startups please keep in mind that we are not talking about millions of dollars worth of VC funds but rather rather small investments in new companies.

I thought YC invests something like $10k-50k per company.

I will be looking into some of these apps as they appear quite creative, and primarly geared toward enhancing the web experience. The simple photo editing app is the most exciting in my opinion. Photoshop has been giving people way more than most need for a really long time, thats one incumbent that needs a bit of competition.

Yawn, wake me up when something really innovative comes around.

I’ve been finding some gems among the startups reviewed at http://www.killerstartups.com, if for no other reason than because they review a ton of sites w/o much filtering, allowing me to decide what is interesting. They are starting to turn into the encyclopedia of startups.

AnywhereFM: The last thing I want to hear on my musicstream is hearing ads right below or in between my songs, I think it wil be a bad move to go towards that direction. If they really want to go that way, I think they should only at the most put our artists’ promo tracks as advertisement. Don’t make me listen to some crap on comcast trip play and how it could save me money
