TwitKu is a new site that is sort of a Meebo (web instant messaging) for the Twitter and Jaiku “presence blogging” services.
The site brings your Twitter and Jaiku accounts onto one screen and adds a posting interface that allows you to post just to one of the services, or to both. The benefit for many people that use both services religiously is obvious. Very simple and very useful for some people.
Both Twitter and Jaiku have APIs, making this possible (or at least manageable). Clones/similar products like Pownce and the new Yappd don’t have APIs. When and if those services release them, I’d expect TwitKu to quickly add those services as well. And that would save those of us who want to use all of the services but refuse to choose a lot of time.
And since Twitter and Jaiku are all about presence and status updates of friends, there’s no reason not to add Facebook status right away, too.

Why I do not like Twitter?
I really do not get what Twitter has for all of us. It needs to have a search engine on top to invite friends.
When we look for help, http://help.twitter.com/ has 10 pages. Very difficult to find out why we can’t search for friends.
After a while going back I forth I hit the right place: http://help.twitter.com/index......&id=62 a page called where is the search bottom. The answer is:
1. “we removed the search box”
2. “Invite via email”
3. Play with the URL “Plug any user name into this URL to see if someone has an existing profile: http://twitter.com/“HERE”
4. Go to http://twittermap.com/search/ and try find yourself.

Ha! this is great, although i’ve got twitter integrated into my facebook profile. Definitely worth trying. Interesting because at rebtel we’ve just finished integrating the rebtel application with facebook: these kind of tie ins are really interesting for inspiration for the development of release 2.
Hope TwitKu would aggregate more services.
Wake me up when they make a desktop client (for the Mac please)
Given that you can cross-post to Jaiku from Twitter, and throw in your Facebook status feed while you’re at it via RSS, this is none too exciting. Posting from your browser is tedious if you use these services with any regularity IMHO

IMified has had a Twitter/Jaiku IM widget for posting to both services for a few months now.
We also recently added full Pownce support that will allow you to post and receive your Pownce messages right in your IM client. I believe this is the first Pownce add-on created. Check it out.
Thanks for the gr8 service. I am already using twitter and Jaiku separately. hopefully it will gonna help me using both these on a single interface.
Dave - yes but the product doesn’t show messages from people you follow, right? Cross posting is important but I also like the ability to see messages from both on one interface.

IMified does support message alerts for Twitter and Pownce, not Jaiku. We’re working on a widget that will support posting and receiving messages from all the “status” apps including Facebook.

I like the simplicity of the idea even though at this time I don’t have much use for it. I am sure down the road I will.
This is what I love … new technologies to keep things interesting although I can’t follow them all.
there are many tools/services that try to combine jaiku and twitter like brabblr, mobifeedlive etc. How many people really need them? Maybe im getting too old to be excited by the zillions of ways people are trying to get famous based on twitter/jaiku apis. End of rant. Want to create your own service? check the list before you reinvent the wheel…

Facebook needs to allow third parties to update the status message, because right now, they don’t.

Thats what Brabblr.com is already doing. You can read messages from any of your microbloggingsites and post messages as well, e.g. twitter, jaiku and soon pownce - although they don’t have an open API yet.
