[...] 部落客(TechCrunch、paidContent、The Next Net、The Deal)幾乎一致認為，Glam膨風嫌疑難免，泡沫即將發生！ [...]

On our sites, Dogster.com and Catster.com, Glam Networks is reaching upwards of a million of their monthly uniques in a very visible manner, every single day of the year.

It strikes me now that I've noticed our members refer to Glam as a women's network as often as they do an advertising network. I'm suspect that's because they have that full-featured, well editorialized community presence practically conjoined with the ad network.

What I'm happy to report is their ad quality is consistently high and well above the drudgery of TribalFusion, Advertising.com, AdSense, etc.

In terms of US-ONLY uniques (which is all i think comscore provides as well, this is fairly instructive:
http://siteanalytics.compete.com/popsugar.com+glam.com+ivillage.com?metric=uv

I'm biased towards compete.com for any number of personal and financial reasons, but Sugar has a ton more sites than popsugar, so let's say 10x that number of global uniques and ditto for Glam. The published numbers look ok to me. MyBlogLog's widget was seeing 40 million global uniques a month (not accounting for cookie erasures, so discount that number by at most 25%) in Q4 last year before Yahoo acquired it, so there's absolutely no reason glam can't be doing the 19.1M.

In terms of US-ONLY uniques (which is all i think comscore provides as well, this is fairly instructive:
http://siteanalytics.compete.c.....?metric=uv

I’m biased towards compete.com for any number of personal and financial reasons, but Sugar has a ton more sites than popsugar, so let’s say 10x that number of global uniques and ditto for Glam. The published numbers look ok to me. MyBlogLog’s widget was seeing 40 million global uniques a month (not accounting for cookie erasures, so discount that number by at most 25%) in Q4 last year before Yahoo acquired it, so there’s absolutely no reason glam can’t be doing the 19.1M.

Site or network? Own or join?

Be a network more than a site, that’s my advice.

This is what Glam has done, creating an ad network across independent sites and growing hugely, bragging that it is the no. 1 women’s site (service, network?) with 19.1 monthly uniques, growing faster than MySpace and larger than iVillage, AOL Living, and all of Conde Nast combined.

At TechCrunch, Mike Arrington ridicules Glam’s claims, saying: “A minimal amount of research into their business shows that the company is an ad network, not a content site.” With respect, I disagree

I say that’s what makes Glam so smart. As the web becomes more and more distributed — more widgetized with tchotzkes of content and functionality spread everywhere — the idea of measuring size by just measuring a site becomes obsolete. And here’s the fringe benefit: it’s better and cheaper to take your content to the people rather than marketing to bring them to you. This is the essence of CBS’ audience network strategy.

This is, dare I say it, the essence of 3.0: join and enable a network instead of trying to buy content and eyeballs on a site.

WWGD. What would Google do? Google would network.
