Windows Live Director Tetuya Onoda apparently showed the above and below slides as part of a presentation yesterday to Japanese press. The slide above shows what the personalized Live.com home page may look like (compare it to the current version here).
Still no sign of direct integration with Vista Gadgets (promised in early 2006), but there are are links to a number of Microsoft services like hotmail and a calendar. And right in the middle a link to “Jonathan’s Space” which is almost certainly a reference to their upcoming SkyDrive.
The second slide to the left confirms this. SkyDrive is specifically mentioned as one of the cornerstones of a “seamless” Windows Live service. It’s been rumored to be coming soon for a long, long time and is yet another area where Microsoft will compete head to head with Google.

Mike, I love that second slide. Windows Live Spaces, Windows Live Messages, Windows Live Hotmail, Windows Live OneCare…
How obnoxious can a billion dollar public company get with naming it’s products?
“seemless” should be “seamless”
Integration with Hotmail. Wow!
At least they are trying…
seems like they are constantly playing a catchup game…
Live.com is a great brand name.
Mike, “Jonathan’s Space” refers to Windows Live Spaces, not Skydrive. This is referred to in the picture as “Folders” the current beta name.
Note that the rename to Skydrive is not official yet, however Folders is confirmed as not being the final name. (see the statement MS gave me here - http://www.liveside.net/blogs/3869.aspx)
Why is your website soooo slow today?
Yawn.
That’s a great domain name that they have!
How is it “almost certainly” a reference to SkyDrive/LiveDrive? How about it being a reference to his Space, as in MSN Spaces or Windows Live Spaces or whatever they are calling it today? Seems like a heck of a stretch to call it “almost certainly”, maybe instead “slim but certainly not likely as it shares a name with an EXISTING live service”.
Looks a lot like PersonalWeb to me
Really interesting.
The Live.com domain is getting nice traction, when looking at the Alexa ratings… (Rank: 5!).
I am surprised by how many people are impressed with the domain name.
This is Microsoft! They could buy almost any domain name in the world. Is it really that impressive?
Looks a lot like iGoogle to me. I am really hoping that one of these days Microsoft will come out with something that is obviously new.
I listened to a podcast of an interview with Steve Balmer at the Churchill Club today. That guy is a nut ball. All I hear them saying is catchup tactics.
Something new guys!
All I could think about when looking at that 2nd Powerpoint slide, was if Microsoft was planning on entering the pattern repeating game market that Simon has had a stranglehold on for decades.
…trying too hard…
How long has that damn Google GDrive been rumored for? At least since March of last year, and it still hasn’t materialized.
At least the Microsoft product doesn’t seem to be total vaporware.
>How obnoxious can a billion dollar public company get with naming it’s products?
Agreed! Another way is to put an “i” in front of everything.
Ahh, and how long before we call this vaporware? Along with Google’s offering? Pahh…I want it now.
what is the point in writing about this when you aren’t adding anything to the story, speculate on something that is obviously not correct and just don’t know what you are talking about?
This is now available Mike.
btw, google mail is still beta.
also, i dont see any harm in being quick follower till the time you are no. 1. Microsoft can be follower and can be innovater at the same time. dont forget Microsoft Surface.
