Trusted Opinion Adds Netflix Queuing

Social networking startup Trusted Opinion has added Netflix Queuing to their recommendations focused offering.
The feature allows Trusted Opinion members to read a review of a movie then instantly add it to their Netflix queue without leaving the page.
Although it sounds simple, Netflix does not offer a public API and hence the feature had to be created the old fashioned way, by creative programming.
NetFlix does not currently offer a social networking service; Trusted Opinion sees the feature as being a draw card for Netflix members seeking new movies.
We last wrote about Trusted Opinion in February. The site has had mixed results in terms of traffic since then in what is a hyper-competitive social networking market. Marrying an all you can eat movie hire service like Netflix to a service such as Trusted Opinion provides something that creates a point of differentiation. The feature will appeal to movie fans looking to find then hire great movies from a sea of Hollywood mediocrity.

or better yet they can get the movies from their friends and vise versa by using a trading site!
*shameless plug*
i heard switchplanet does that pretty well!
Umm, i’ve seen other sites with Netflix queuing — cin-o-matic.com has had it for at least 2 years now, and that’s a one-man labor of love.
Must be a slow Friday if “[insert random socialnet] adds a feature” suddenly becomes newsworthy.
We had this in BlueOrganizer for a year, its not really that big of a deal.

Is Amazon looking to buy netflix
“Must be a slow Friday if “[insert random socialnet] adds a feature” suddenly becomes newsworthy.”
Seriously. “Creative programming” my ball sack.
this integration would be nice for http://www.moviesuggester.com/movies.php
Netflix has had a “social network” of sorts for a while now; there’s a tab at the top labelled “Friends” and you can see how similar your friends tastes are to your own, what they have out, what they rated. You can leave notes on movies for your friends, among other things.
They don’t call the features out much, and I think they’re still toying with where the value element is, but I’ve actually been pretty impressed with the “social network” Netflix has for movies. They just don’t make a big deal of it.
Good move on the part of TrustedOpinion. Where is the integration w/Blockbuster?
Does anyone have any information on how to build such websites that allow automatic login to Netflix? I had one working years ago with PHP’s curl, but haven’t been able to figure it out using WWW:Mechanize on Rails.
