I am ending my accout this month after a year of not being able to use my MediaMax account as I did with Streamload. I consider MediaMax to be fraud as they took their once trusting service and switched it with a bunch of empty promises as they line their pockets with our money. I do not recommend this to anybody.

These are evil people! They don´t let the paying users know what is going on, their blog is bullshit except for the last one... I trie from time to time to download something but without succsess (app. 60 files in different locations). I bet they will not make it and all the unhappy users can switch to nirvanix foor a special price...

But it is my own fault... I will never pay for a year in advance! I whish MediaMax (the fileshredder specialists) all the bad on earth! Not because they made some errors, no, because the lie to their custoers.

They explained a data loss, see also their blog
http://mediamaxblog.blogspot.com/
This happend on june 15, we are 2 months from that now. This should not take so long. I don't know the amount of data lost but tapestreamers are able to recover at least 1 mb per second (probably much higher), so in 2 months roughly 5060 Gb

I have an account with streamload mediamax and uploaded many important files but after like 5-6 months later they disappear. When I click on the files a message would say MediaMax encountered an error. This service from MediaMax is not reliable. I don't recommended people using this service unless they don't care whether there files get deleted once in a while.

There is a new post on mm blog http://mediamaxblog.blogspot.com/
where they deny that mm was a testbed for nirvanix and they explain a bit more
It is unbelievable how many mistakes were made. It doesn't explain why after a major data loss on june 15 they continued a data migration on june 22 The recovery will take many more weeks. Why this takes so long is also not explained and impossible to understand. If this happens at my company it will be broke in less time

There was somebody posting here who claimed to be working at streamload / mediamax. Can you please shed some light on this situation and possibly also the nirvanix relationship? Was mediamax indeed a testbed for nirvanix?

For us it is a serious situation, hundreds of our Music streams which feed
our many Stations were stored on Streamload. We can no longer excess
these streams, they simply do not work. it has been over a Month, no
response from support, and nothing works , we do have some mp3 cd backups, but seems we have lost hundreds of music files.
This Company should not be allowed to continue operations, it takes peoples money while they destroy and loose valuable files.
The Internet should not support these companies, or allow them to exsist..

Here's the comment somebody got from the big boss Steve himself

Yes, that article is true. Unfortunately, I (and MediaMax) am under a strict confidentiality agreement that prevents me from providing any additional details at this time. Michael at Techcrunch did his homework and put together all this information from an unknown source – we did not provide it to him as Nirvanix has wanted to wait until their launch to announce their new company.

No – this is very good news for MediaMax and does not change anything we’ve said. We still currently have the same problems we have detailed and are working to solve them. The rushed datacenter move was a result of this split, but now we are a separate operating entity and can concentrate 100% on MediaMax. Everyone at MediaMax is very pleased about this split (it’s a good thing to now only having to concentrate on 1 thing – build the best consumer file storage and sharing web site) and our customers should see a massive improvement later this year.

-Steve

This looks like nirvanix is a spin off. This Patrick Harr first gets all the blame and now he's involved in this nirvanix. what kind of game are they playing with all their paying customers??? It is really pissing me off because I am thinking they are using us paying customers for testing on behalve of this nirvanix. When it's done probably mm goes broke.

What does it mean expect a massive improvement later this year?
On other posts Steve and some of his crew like John Hood are saying they are working on their problems now. These problems are already going on for 8 weeks. Why is it not solved by now. If I leave these kind of problems for my boss our company will be bankrupt in less then 8 weeks.
They are still not telling everything and I fear it will not be solved. So my 2 cents for everybody who is a customer at mediamax postpone or cancel any payments.

See also another interesting post considering mediamax

It seems like a conflict of interests? Or could it be mediamax and all his users (including me) are used as a try out for nirvanix? Is Patrick Harr really the one to blame for the current mess mediamax is in?

Wow I thought I was alone. I am not sure if so many people having problems is reassuring though...

Uploading!?!

Cannot connect to upload squat (was terribly slow since last summers change) and as for downloading, I have not been able to download ANYTHING I have except the MM trite error message for the past three weeks!

This, on top of the double-billing crap I had to go through last year and was not resolved until this year, after threats from PayPal and Legal Action, was anything done.

Of course before the inability to download or upload, the cheat from MM of double and triple dinging my download quotient (e.g. - 150MB DL was deducted as a 300-450MB DL) has been going on since at least March of this year for my account and others too I have spoken to who use MM.

By coincidence my credit card expired in june so I was mailed to
give new details. I postponed this and suggested to cancel if the service
doesn't improve. I got mailed by billing with the proposal of 3 months free downloads. I replied by asking for 3 months free download and start new payments no sooner then 1st of october. Still no reply on that one.
I can only suggest to all others postpone your financial dealings to see if the service will improve. There is enough coverage from forums to hear if it is indeed improving. You can change your card details to something invalid
The only downside is that I now can't access at all

When I complained at the dismal performance, I was offered three additional months free on top of my annual sub.
Trouble is it means three additional months of trouble, based on current performance.

Thank you for your email. I am sorry to hear of the issues. Which
method of downloading are you attempting? What happens when you try? Are you
getting specific error messages? Please let ms know and I will do my
best to assist. Thank you.

These suckers now exactly what is going on! I can try every method, nothing works. I am on my way to RapidShare. Too bad that i payed them till next year.

My suggestion - just leave MediaSuck, don´t belive them anything... They are history.
