I’m just going to touch on Wurkpal briefly. It’s a very simple forum site that is designed specifically for people to gossip/complain/etc. about their work environment anonymously. The site takes a guess as to where you are logging in from based on a reverse hostname lookup and tries to direct you to the correct company forum. You can also view the directory and go from there. The site badly needs a search function and the ability to add new companies.
We’ve covered a few companies that are roughly in this space – see BossBitching, Ovehear.us and JobVent. For entrepreneurs who want to rip into venture capitalists that have turned them down, TheFunded is always entertaining. None of these hold a candle to what FuckedCompany was back in the day, but it’ll take a major downturn before that type of site can see the glory days again.
Wurkpal is based in San Jose and says they’ve received angel funding.

hey i thought that was what IM was for?!
No panic button…WTF
Somebody, (presumably from wurkpal) has been spamming the rumor mill on biofind.com about this site. Biofind has been the home of biotech bitching for over 10 years now.
How do you find angels willing to give you money on an “adwords-based” site?
This is an interesting concept, pretty simple UI.
You need to access it from your work PC.
Look at this :

There should be less espresso machines, because they just waste every1s time.

Should there be better coffee in the breakrooms?
Great product… I also want to share another company called http://www.getmaestro.com which I use from work to access my entire music collection on demand from any browser! I now leave my iPod at home since now I have complete remote access to my entire library. Below is a summary from their website…
On-Demand access to your music
Remotely access, manage, and interact with your entire music library stored at home through any web browser. To start streaming music, you need to download the “Maestro Connector” and tell it where you stash your music. Maestro then sucks down all the meta-data (location, artist, album, length) and logs it in your profile online. Leave your Maestro Connector running and you can play songs complete with album art and organize your music into playlists from anywhere.
Socialize your music
Manage your playlists through any browser, create new ones, listen anywhere, share with your friends, and add them to online social profiles
including Facebook and MySpace!
Look at this entry, what a wimpy , wretched google employee. hey, aren’t you enough with getting free gourmet food?

Is this really safe from privacy stand point?
I know we don’t have to give out our work email addresses , but can we still say things and be safe???
Can someone technical/geek comment on this?
Not this crap again.
Its a good idea, but I think employees would be afraid of being fired.
The site is pretty lame, companies aren’t even indexed by name. Also, they want you to post from work? They should at least run the site over https – most companies worth reading about will have firewalls and proxies, and have the ability to review what sites workers were on and what they typed into a web form. There is nothing safe about this site at all.
Is it just me or did they steal the Google Groups logo?
http://groups.google.com/
Um, why are you even covering this site?
Looks too… boring! Instead why don’t you find your old work buddies on workedhere.com!!!
Job site reputation is a growing category. Within two years we’ll see some of these sites snapped up by the job search majors, but only those sites that provide employers the chance to offer a balanced viewpoint. HotJobs, Dice, etc. make their money from employers, not employees. The majors will have to add reputable employee feedback someday, and will do so through a purchase, but they won’t buy one that is just a bitch site. They won’t bite the hand that feeds them.
I am not too sure about the potential of this website. I mean people post gossip on there and then what?
Even though it’s anonymous, people might still be scared about someone finding out by finding their IP address and looking that up
