TVtrip’s Multimedia Hotel Directory Gets $4.8 Million

tvtriplogo.pngA month after launch, TVtrip has secured another round of financing from Benchmark’s European Branch, Balderton, and Partech, which will be announced tomorrow. Along with the financing they’ve also expanded their directory of hotel videos and added some more travel executives to their board.

Their directory has moved beyond London and Paris, now including Germany, Italy, and Spain. Erik Blashford (CEO of Terrapass, Former CEO of Expedia), Thierry Antinory (VP Marketing & Sales of Lufthansa) have joined the advisory board.

Trivop is also pursuing a multimedia directory for hotels.

    Love the concept. I had thought about doing something similar, but am too busy launching my current site.

    This is much improved over what is available on TripAdvisor

    I have to say that http://www.MyCancunTV.com is another type of Hotel Video Guide , but only for Cancun andf Riviera Maya in Mexico

    Pretty neat. They need to get more videos on there and it’s key to get a better sense of the location. I hate checking into a beautiful hotel in the worst part of town.

    These guys created a dream job for theirself :) Travelling from hotel to hotel, setting up some camera, hmm, let’s say it would last for 2 days, and I bet every hotel manager will ask:
    “Hey guys, where do you stay this night?”

    Looks like a good service -

    - They made application of a simple idea (good)

    - anyone with a pocket book could out do them (bad)

    IE Yahoo Travel, MSN travel?
