I’m very excited to see this. Hey!Watch seems to be the company running this, and I’ve been very pleased with their video transcoding service. I’m in the process of using it to build a site for a client and have been impressed by how well-designed (and speedy) it is. Presumably Hey!Spread will tie into it, which will be handy.

Another quick note, I think most people respect people that earn it, regardless of sex, so no I don’t just respect ‘women’ because they are women. They are capable of being anything.

Last, the name, while unfortunate, is the latest in a long series of ‘Hey!’ names by Particle-s there, like Hey!Cast and Hey!Watch. Just like Michael has a bunch of ‘Crunch’ names. I doubt they’ve been working all this time to get to the point of plausible deniability over naming something Hey!Spread, but I could be wrong.

Kari, I doubt that’s the intention, although I’ll admit it’s a pretty iffy choice. But I wouldn’t want to hear ‘Hey! Spread!’ any more than a woman would, believe me.

I don’t think it’s sexist or degrading, or that this is a frat party, as I’m not under like 5′5″ and we aren’t all dressed the same.

Honestly, I think there’s the distinct possibility that they didn’t think about anything other than that a relatively short name with spread (as in your video) in it was available.

Especially when you take a sec to look at the whois info before going on a sexist tirade, you see that the registration information is from Paris and they may not be up on the vagaries of what exactly offends you today.
