[...] I asked Chris Pirillo for some tips for this post and one of his key points was simply: “you must understand that (a) It’s all about YouTube, and (b) It’s all about YouTube.” Like it or not YouTube dominates online video today more than Google dominates search in the United States. Other video bloggers I’ve spoken to suggest distribution to many sites, but always making sure YouTube is top of the list. TubeMogul is one the oldest of the video distribution sites, and is simple to use and free. You upload your video to their servers, enter you user name and password for a list of sites (first time only) then press the button and off they go. TubeMogul also tracks traffic statistics from each site so you can see which videos are being watched there. An alternative service is Hey!Spread (our review here). [...]

This service works well. I work for TubeMogul, and we're launching Load & Track, our universal upload and tracking tool. It's fast, it works great, and it integrates with our video analytics, so you can track and trend your videos across sites. Check it out and let me know what you think! Our alpha testers received nearly 4x more views by using the tool - study published on our blog at http://www.tubemogul.com/blog/
Best,

The most important think is that you enjoy the service. We made it for that purpose. To be useful, to save time and to make the buzz dead simple. Be sure we never thought to anything sexual with this name. So, please, test the service even if it's still a Beta and give us you feedback.

That's a great service but, according to hitwise, 99+ percent of internet users aren’t interested in going public with their private lives but, like me, they still want to share their video, photo or audio with family and friends. At Quickeo, we’ve a solution for that. It’s as easy as sending an email. It’s private and it’s fun. You just need to get the software at www.quickeo.com/tv/index. A minute later, you can create amazing shows and send very catchy emails. (by the way, it’s free) . A good complement for those videos you don't want on video sites but you are dying to share!

I'm very excited to see this. Hey!Watch seems to be the company running this, and I've been very pleased with their video transcoding service. I'm in the process of using it to build a site for a client and have been impressed by how well-designed (and speedy) it is. Presumably Hey!Spread will tie into it, which will be handy.

Another quick note, I think most people respect people that earn it, regardless of sex, so no I don't just respect 'women' because they are women. They are capable of being anything.

Last, the name, while unfortunate, is the latest in a long series of 'Hey!' names by Particle-s there, like Hey!Cast and Hey!Watch. Just like Michael has a bunch of 'Crunch' names. I doubt they've been working all this time to get to the point of plausible deniability over naming something Hey!Spread, but I could be wrong.

Kari, I doubt that's the intention, although I'll admit it's a pretty iffy choice. But I wouldn't want to hear 'Hey! Spread!' any more than a woman would, believe me.

I don't think it's sexist or degrading, or that this is a frat party, as I'm not under like 5'5" and we aren't all dressed the same.

Honestly, I think there's the distinct possibility that they didn't think about anything other than that a relatively short name with spread (as in your video) in it was available.

Especially when you take a sec to look at the whois info before going on a sexist tirade, you see that the registration information is from Paris and they may not be up on the vagaries of what exactly offends you today.

Drama 2.0: boys are so awful!

How about "naming appropriately for your web 2.0 startup"

I can't believe Techcrunch didn't mention anything about what a horrible, sexist name this is or how degrading for women such a connotation has.

Actually I can, considering what a frat party this all is. Can you give women any respect?

You should add Veoh to that list as well. Although they too allow users to upload to multiple sites.

This is an awesome way to make the internet a much more efficient experience, especially for people who are active on the listed sites. It will be interesting to see exactly what other services hey!spread continues to add to their product.
