Thanks a lot for the article Nick, here is a video which shows how easy it actually is to place an ultra-cheap international Jajah call right from your Apple iPhone - http://youtube.com/watch?v=y3RydudYcts

There is extensive chatter about Jajah's application on AT&T iPhone but it all seems to neglect the more elegant and simple solutions - that are an even better alternatives to Jajah. That solution is Rebtel. www.rebtel.com

Rebtel provides free calls from your landline or mobile phone to your contact list. and if your friend is not on your contact list - their rates are even lower than Jajah or Skype! The solution is simple and requires no downloads, no waiting for a third party connection...Their service could not be easier to use or easier to love!

Markus, users would use their minutes because incoming calls aren't free in the USA (also in Canada, HK, and Singapore). Also, the iPhone plans include unlimited data.

Well the ATT iphone plan did prevent me from buying a new iphone since my contract with att is still several monthes to end. I'd think Apple would have made the phone compatible with all the att plans if they want to, uhm, change the cell phone industry, as the hype goes.

Jajah + iPhone = no news...

That's no news, but a PR stunt. They only brought mobile.jajah.com to the iPhone screen. That's like if every internet company would publish a press release, stating their website also works on the iPhone. Jajah plays this game yet for 3 months, but ...

You write "Since Jajah makes long distance calls cheaper by bridging two local calls with a VOIP line, you still have to spend some of your plans minutes on the phone call."

I don't think that's true. Jajah is a callback service.

You browse to mobile.jajah.com with your iPhone. That costs you data, but not minutes. On mobile.jajah.com you type in the number you want to call. Jajah then connects you by calling bot parties of the call - you and your callee.

This doesn't "spend some of your plans minutes on the phone call". Unless Jajah has for the iPhone changed their business model from call back to call trough.

But that's not the case as you can learn from the latest post in Jajah's blog.

Does the IPhone allow for Internet radio streaming through Mobile Safari? I created a Internet radio web app for Mobile IE ( http://www.techavid.com/internetradiomobile.php ) to enjoy whatever station(s).

I had some1 try this same app out on their Iphone and they said it didnt work, yet it works on Safari for Windows.

So the Iphone doesnt accept any type of streaming media (m3u, mms: , rtsp, quicktime)???

As a matter of fact - Callcentric.com always had that feature - it's called Click2Dial on their WEB site. Any Callcentric's user may login to the Dashboard, choose Click2Dial and enter two phone numbers - one is "from" and the oner one is "to". The system connects first to "from", after the call is answered it asks to wait and then connects to "to" number.
Enjoy :-))

That $60 to 100 monthly contract - will ultimately make them less competitive after the hype wears off.

It is hard to understand that business justification for this.
