I watched the movie with a very critical eye and I will say having worked in the healthcare industry for over 15 years that what Mr. Moore had to report was true. I saw the intense "greed" of wanting to be rich motivated healthcare issues over and over and over again.

We need to wake up to the fact that we have a problem in the USA and realize that our arrogance is not a "family" value. We need to realize that we are our "brothers" keeper and the life we save may be our own.

Michael Moore's letter to CNN prompted me to do the same:

Dear CNN:

Dr Guptas' report of Sicko was useless and I listened with an open mind. He said nothing useful except that Michael Moore rounded up a number to 7,000. Way to go doctor! You found a mistake! I am offended that he suggested Michael Moore was unfairly leading the American public to believe things that are untrue and feeding us falsehoods. I am not a person naive and stupid enough to believe whatever is fed to me. I research as much as possible.

Michael Moore represents so many Americans and he can speak for me anytime. A doctor (who practices in America) to argue government run health care? How stupid do you think Americans are? Highly overpaid doctors should not represent most of America, as you are far from the majority. I am 40, a divorced mother of one, and I have no health care. However, I don't want it. I will choose, instead, to wait for free government health care and hope that it will soon be the standard here in America.

We Americans have paid for far too many fat salaries, coverage we cannot use, and overpriced prescriptions which all contribute to the wealthy getting wealthier, while the working class American must lose a loved one so that insurance execs can purchase another yacht, get another costly divorce, or reserve the hottest new sports car to feed their shallow souls.

I will be starting a letter-writing campaign to request that CNN offer the truth about our health care system in this country. Please include the government officials who enjoy the perks thrown to them by those all-too-important lobbys in Washington.

Why DON'T you try to pick Moore's movie apart, piece by bloody piece? Don't skim over it briefly with no information like your doctor did. Really try to prove him wrong! Why won't you? And for heaven's sake, get a conscience and apologize to a man who, like Al Gore, is just trying to raise awareness for a very important issue.

Why can't we ever seem to expose the fat, greedy, wealthy people scooping up all the pennies in this country? Does money really matter that much to that many selfish people that you'd rather all Americans remain clueless and quiet? Don't complicate things, simplify. What is the worst that could happen? You'd lose an advertiser or two? Maybe you'd even get a call from Bush! Don't worry, he's the dumbest American of all and I am quite sure HE is willing to accept any hot air you blow in his direction.

Sharon Jenson

Now, here are some facts I was able to dig up:

Fortune 500s Most Profitable Companies of 2007 include drug companies, insurance companies, and oil companies.

Drug companies block generic forms of their pricey meds, costing the sick tem times more than they should have to pay to be well.

In Brazil, they offer generic drugs to HIV/AIDS patiens; costing $300/year per patient. In America we spend $10 to $12,000 per patient per year.

Bush appointed a former CEO of a drug company, Ely Lily, as head of our Global AIDS Initiative.

And, Adolf Hitler once said, "How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think".

Thankfully, in the last month the stocks of the health care companies are going down, they are in reverse. Could it be "Sicko"?

And please, don't anyone else comment back to me that Michael Moore is trying to push socialized medicine. His motives are completely of a good nature. He has good intentions; he tries to raise awareness. And don't comment on the fact that this issue was already an issue & didn't need pointing out -- NOT TRUE! I for one have learned a lot and not just from the movie. I've done my own research & I suggest every American do the same!

Thank you for reading this.

Of course Google and Michael Moore are against each other! Google's a company that makes money.

On a more serious note, I'm certainly not a Michael Moore fan, but I don't think Google should directly target anyone - that'll only lead to bad publicity.

This is ridiculous. You've got one "jewish" entity, namely Google with associates, versus "jewish" Michael Moore. Listen, these are co-operating. Google is trying to boost publicity and controversy around Moore's movie so more people will view it. I smell money here. Dirty "jewish" money.

Number 197 has got the simplest and most correct argument of them all:

"Google should never be involved in commenting on content.

This and any comments google makes taking a position for or against any content just undermines the credibility of its search results."

Congratulations.

@#4.

Sanity, a couple of things. Where are your facts relating to Cuba's inferior health care system? I happen to live in the Caribbean island of St.Kitts, where there's no red tape when it comes to health care.

Cuba's health care and doctors are highly regarded and respected across the Caribbean region, where they continuously have their doctors travelling to various countries to provide free consultancy, training and medical services.

So please, lay off of Cuba if you don't have the hard cold facts. I'm no fan of Castro, but considering the shit Cuba has to endure..they're doing pretty damn good.

This and any comments google makes taking a position for or against any content just undermines the credibility of its search results.

@186 It’s amazing that in Article I, Section 8 of the constitution that Congress is granted the powers to: LAY AND COLLECT TAXES, to borrow money on the credit of the United States, to regulate commerce with foreign nations and among the several states, etc., etc.

Simply put, Congress has the explicit power to tax you for whatever purpose it sees fit, and the explicit power to spend it to “provide for the general welfare of the United States.”

Check your facts about the Constitution before you perverting it. That’s the Bush Administration’s job, not yours."

BZZZZZ!!!! No! Sorry. Not the correct answer. But thanks for playing. We have some lovely parting gifts for you. What does JAC, Johnny?!!! "Well, JAC will receive "Schoolhouse Rocks- I'm Just a Bill" and "Three Ring Government" to help with understanding of how govt is supposed to work"

Liberals love to use the General Welfare clause for any govt welfare program they can dream up. However, if one reads the Constitution with an open and logical mind is makes no sense that it would specifically limit the powers of Congress while as the same time granting it carte blanche to imposes taxes for whatever reason they can come up with. You might want to have a read of Federalist Papers 41 and 84 where the AUTHORS of the Constitution explain what was meant by the General Welfare clause. Now this may be hard to follow, so concentrate. Hamilton argued that a bill of rights, which many were clamoring for, would be not only “unnecessary,” but “dangerous.” Since the federal government was given only a few specific powers, there was no need to add prohibitions: it was implicitly prohibited by the listed powers. If a proposed law — a relief act, for instance — wasn’t covered by any of these powers, it was ipso facto unconstitutional.

Since you appear to be so familiar with the Constitution, then surely you are aware of the 10th Amendment. You know, the one that says...the powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people." Thus, the general welfare cannot reasonably be stretched to allow the national level of government to perform functions and exercise powers beyond those specifically and explicitly listed in the Constitution. As James Madison said: "If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the general welfare, the government is no longer a limited one...."

Madison went on to say the powers of the federal government do not extend to the life, liberty or property of the American people. Thus, under the system of government established by the Founders, Congress could not have the subjective authority to declare what constitutes the general welfare because the federal government does not have general legislative authority over internal or domestic affairs.

Finally, Hamilton asserted that there were strict limitations to Congress' power to tax and appropriate money under the general welfare provision. First, the appropriation must be applied to the whole [general] and cannot be local or particular. This constitutional restriction alone wipes out the majority of the taxes Congress imposes each year because the money is then appropriated to fund congressional pet projects that are local or particular in nature. Second, Congress cannot use the power of appropriation to do things not authorized by the Constitution, "either expressly or by fair implication."

But, again, nice try and thanks for playing.

@194
I agree with the three points you raise.

The conversation was driven into the tangent you complain of a participant (DPM) who raised the dander and anguish of many. He/She is still probably lurking and ready to jump from around the corner as soon as it gets dark.

Some even think he/she is none other than the Grammar Policewoman, Lauren Turner herself. I don't think so. I want to believe that she is busy arguing why she should not be moved to a department where she can do less harm to Google and me... and you and the world!

Just a quick note to Joe B.:

"Even Canada (and I am canadian) have a better healthcare system (almost free and universal)."

Actually, I too am Canadian, and Canada's healthcare system is hardly "free" - we pay an enormous amount for it each year. It is also a deeply flawed system that needs rescuing before it breaks.

I'm glad we have the healthcare system we do, it's a good investment into the nation - but please, pull your head out of the clouds.

To all:
You missed the point of the movie. It was not about charity or the uninsured. It was about the class that has health insurance and still cannot get care at all when needed, or without going bankrupt.
Secondly, the question we should all ponder is whether we the people should be entitled to health care when we are sick or just those who can afford it.
Thirdly, because the health care industry has only one goal, to increase the bottom line by law; and spends so much money buying off politicians, news organizations, scientists, etc., the American people are ignorant of the facts.

I somehow disagree. It would be akin to 'Do No Evil in Public' rather than simply 'Do No Evil.'

Years ago corporations practiced deceit on a large scale. The conflict of interest was disguised and workers made to pay for gross mistakes made in their name by their unelected bosses.

Google needs to be watched. It may that it too 'cannot see beyond its nose,' and that the good will of 'Do No Evil' is now giving way to the hotheads the like of Ms. Turner, out to make a fast buck from the misery of untold millions - as her exhortation to the Pharams to advertise in Google.

Few would be satisfied if Ms. Turner kept her job. It would mean Google's motto is another PR by the likes of Ms. Turner.

It is my considered judgment that Google stood to gain many more millions by taking a positive stand along side those who use it and make for it the numbers that pushes its advertising rate.

That is why it is a matter of a short time before I will move away and tell friends, etc. why!
