I just don’t see Feedster going away. If they ran out of money, what’s the chance we’d see a buyout? If nothing else, they do have a reputation of some kind. We’ve at least heard of them, right?

Personally, I’ve always known that feedster wouldn’t die. They have a great strategy, and I use them almost everyday.

I’m also not sure why you say this is a Google-dominated space. Doesn’t Technorati rank above Google Blogsearch on various free and commercial traffic reports? I think this was actually covered here on TC.

Feedster had a good initial business strategy, but a psycho founder (Johnson) and clueless vcs drove the company in the wrong direction. Not sure the motivation for the new announcement and ugly facelift.

Look, you can flame and name call all you want but the one thing we can agree on is that Scott Johnson is the greatest person in the history of man. If by greatest person you mean pasty and insipid beyond anyones wildest imagination.

Scott Johnson is totally awesome – his contributions to society will align the planets and bring peace and harmony to all mankind for a millisecond. Then Britney Spear’s new album will realase the the Four Horsemen of the Appocalypse will come.

Oh Ian, if you only knew. Scott is the guy that killed the original feedster, which is now actually in its third re-birth as a company. Scott sold the original investors a product and story that never existed (such as the spam filtering he touted) and everything he ever touched or wrote was quickly either thrown out or re-written.

Agree with Michael’s assessment.

Feedster has gone downhill ever since Scott Johnson left the company. The new site design IMO is ugly, the product is outdated and offers very little value.

I am suprised their investors are letting them continue.

It’s not too difficult to make a search engine profitable if they know how to buy some cheap traffic and serve cpc ads.

I did do a few searches and got zero or unexpected results and actually a few css mistakes. I am glad it says beta. But, if there’s one thing I’ve learned… don’t promote something unless it’s ready to go.

So, who’s over there now? Rafer left a long time ago. Who’s running the ship?
