Hmmm, a party with 500 people. I wonder how parties scale? At what point does it move from “party” to “festival”? At a party you might know people, but at 500 people you’re lucky to find anyone. Have you ever been to a wedding with 500 people?

What happens at 1000?

Can you add structure to the experience that makes it more interesting than random schmoozing? Spend 10 minutes with a 5 person group answering a question; best answer of the night takes home a case of [insert sponsor's beverage here]. Have-money/Want-money colored lapel stickers. A minute of silence every half hour?

Michael,

I understand your desire to make it free, but: (a) people are willing to pay; (b) the money goes to a good cause anyway. So why not put up a few tickets a day on eBay and see what they go for. My guess is that VCs will be the ones with the money for the winning bids and they draw the entrepreneurs who make it interesting.

It looks like I’m SOL, but I’m not raising money and just want to meet interesting entrepreneurs like myself, so I’ll defer to the money raisers have a great party.

lol – who are the people attending these events anyways?

i think the 80/20 rule plays into effect here.

80% of the people are “nobodies”, while 20% of the people are actual ‘people’ in the valley, who’s worth getting to know.

everybody’s pitching their ideas looking for funding/connections – lol, that’s why people value getting a ticket so much

Maybe for the next tickets – if any left – you should give advance notice: “Tomorrow at xx am we’ll open the booth for 100 more tickets”.

I don’t know how that would play (I can only guess , but at least people won’t feel bad they missed it again because they just cannot check TC every 5 minutes (something completely understandable BTW)

Someone should probably give tips on How to get tickets for TC.

Too bad, not a single day goes for me with out visiting TC and not a single time i am able to attend it being in the west coast..

I agree with ConcreteStain, I paid $2k for a TC20 ticket and can’t get a $10 party ticket, because I have a job and can’t look at TC every friggin minute of the day.
