[...] Alla domanda “quale sarà lo YouTube dei live video?” ognuno risponde a modo suo.
Hi. Don't jump on me for being new to this.

I am a librarian at a public library in Parker, Colorado. Another librarian and I produce a live local music series at the library.

My question: What do we need to have and to do to get our live local music series broadcast live on the web?

Again: Don't jump on me for asking.

Thanks,

Jeanie

I saw a press release on earthtimes.org about Fix8 the avatar and cam effects application partnering with Stickam. Interesting. I wonder if Fix 8 is aware that Stickam the website it is so proud to announce partnering with is in fact owned by one of the largest live cam porn companies in Japan which operates in los angeles. AVC is one of several companies that belong to a producer of live webcam porn. Guess this means Stickam has had a lot of practice in the live cam business considering all the hard core cam porn it pushes every day. I used to work at Stickam and I was shocked to discover that AVC did not create video conference solutions but was a front for hardcore live porn. I guess Fix 8 does not care where its money comes from.

People in this industry are sometimes naive.

Adverts and network TV are becoming Live again.

In the future there will be tools that will automatically take us to the streams where something is about to happen -otherwise 24/7 live streamed TV would simply be the boring bits of Reality TV.

People are naive, because they don't realise that at the end of the day, while you'll continue to have the odd shooting stars -just as the film industry already does with independent movies, most of the future will in some shape or form, continue to be provided by the biggest producers in any territory -The TimeWarners, Newscorps' and Viacoms'.

There's also no differntiation made between sit-up, sit-back and lean-forward television, or push, pulled and found internet video content =>there are a lot of pieces that are yet to fall into place to form the internet-video eco-system, but it's not too hard to know what to expect will be needed.

There's a company that does internet video that's been going since the 1990's (pre-bubble 1.0), stable mature created-from-scratch platform ( Forscene: http://www.Forscene.net ) called Forbidden Technologies and it developed live video a few years ago, however, most of it's broadcast customers don't use it for that because it's still early days, and like voip after Vocaltec, Video-on-net has taken an astonishing length of time to pass the tipping-point thanks to incumbant telco's, but now helped by the mobile phone industry and laptops and wifi.

It's still early days, and the cutting edge of users, like those who visit techcrunch and newteevee, are still developing the tools and the vocabulary for something that will be completely ubiquitous and intuitive in the future, The existing broadcast professionals will eventually also get a grip of the flux affecting their industry -no doubt, in part, by the help (buying) of those who currently hope to usurp them!

Ultimately, the Internet will fulfill what it was destined to be: a big fat pipe that transports data of any type, form, format without differentiation - where every node, every user, is MIMO.

Thanks.

Yours kindly,

Shakir Razak

P.s.
just a note re: youtube: what is its USP?
When broadcasters/producers want their content available everywhere, and it doesn't sell premium content, how is it the future, the future is diffused, when there are loads of silos, won't most users simply revert to video-search (as soon as it's advanced enough) or playlist-widgets from any dynamic/search/index site?

Have you heard about Netineo.com? 350kbps, text and images overlays, unlimited # of viewers, HTML code, ... but PC only
Pity the site and application are not user friendly. Beta version maybe. Coulc become powerful

when people talk about live, there are actually two meanings:
1) true live
which means to broadcast live flow eg: webcam, camera......

2) fake live
which means to broadcast programmed playlist.

I guess Netineo (www.netineo.com) does quiet good job on both aspects.

Who cares where the Money Came from? They shouldn't have hidden it cause it will cause problems, idiots. Should have been forthright about it. Now they should seriously look into making the site better cause they have a chance of being the breakout site, but can they? People will start thinking about what nefarious things they have got in stored for the site, should just say the truth and overturn things with a total revamp and push for more creativity and take strong stance on mature content, or else they will get burned.

I've kept up on this a little and I believe Justin.tv is doing the best job. He started with one live show of his life and has added shows each with their own audience.

By the time he opens his network up to the public there will already be several popular channels in place with many viewers. Additionally, the interface is fun, friendly and useful and we can assume this will continue on the open network.

I've been enjoying a show called Ride Share ( http://www.justin.tv/rideshare ) where a young man has decided to spend his summer giving anyone who wants a ride anywhere in North America as long as they are willing to tell their story and pay half of the gas money.

Very cool idea and a good demonstration of the technology for Justin.

I've recently been experimenting with some live video web sites. I think live can be an exciting part of video on the web.

Chris Pirillo is using USTREAM.TV to capture live content and then post 'shows' to video sites like YouTube and blip.tv. He embeds sponsor logos and live text chat in the video. Pretty cool.

I used Operator11.com the other day for the first time and was a LIVE guest in Rome at that Vlog Camp.

This was very exciting because I was able to roll in my most recent video from Spices of Life and show people what i was talking about when I explained that I shot the show on a Nokia N93/N95, edited it in Final Cut Pro, and hosted it on blip.tv.

Video:
http://operator11.com/shows/1348/episodes/4644

I signed up to test Mogulus, which sounds like it will allow adding clips from your PC and the web to the stream. That would be very cool, but sounds like it does not have live chat.

I think that having a live stream with viewers who can participate with chat and also who can switch in and become the host is real interactive video on the web. Without live it's more static. So if you are looking for true interactivity where the audience actually participates by coming on the show with video or even just chat, live is very exciting.

I think that as soon at TV sees what is going on here, they will jump on this... They just don't understand yet.

MTV might be the first in the US whre they had a video wall so viewers could ask questions live with webcams, but I think Canada had this a while ago, and the test I did with Rome was also broadcast on satellite on SkyTV. So they are ahead in that.

So I think the important things about this are:

1. It's live and participatory vs. recorded and static. It's not really participatory unless the presence of the viewer changes the content of the show.

2. Viewers can host. This gives you true interactivity and gives people a reason to visit at certain times. Appointment viewing is back. Even though those people might just be 10% of the audience, message board history has proved that 80% of people come back to watch the 10% generate content.

3. Live Chat. More interaction to add content to the live show.

4. Connecting with others around the world. World Peace.
