Some pretty impressive features. I am sure some graphic design software/web design software will take advantage of the API to offer their users an easy way (ala Microsoft Office Clipart) to access photos.

I am sorry, but i totally don't agree with you. Lucky Oliver is not even comparable to Fotolia. Fotolia's images quality and the site is much better.

Lucky Oliver is a better up-and-coming microstock agency. Much better selection and higher quality.

The vector aspect is cool, but definitely not an edge that can't be duplicated by the others.

I remember the days when getty and their ilk was about your only route to royalty-free if you wanted anything decent on a budget. Sites like this and istockphoto lower the entry barrier for graphic artists, and this is a good thing, because it just invites more creativity into the mix.

If I was an illustrator, though, I actually would find the SVG thing a bit annoying. Since they offer both SVG and EPS as output options to buyers, why not allow uploads of EPS, too? Most vector art is going to be created in professional illustration program that generates EPS, so exporting same as SVG is an extra step.

Nothing against SVG, but as a format it's a long way from real adoption on the web, at least until MS starts supporting it in IE. Of course, if this site helps push adoption of SVG then I'm all for it, since I'm a big fan of that format.

Bottom line, it's a nice site, not really any slower on a high speed connection than istockphoto that I could notice. I've been on istockphoto for a long time - and I'm signing up for this one, too.

Hello,

The site is not that slow for a new launch with tons of visitors. In addition to increase number in visitors, I can imagine that they need to make the cache effect work. I don't know what SVG are but any a pretty website !!

I don't like Fotolia for several reasons: too slow, search results are not accurate enough, from 50 visits probably 10 ended with mysql error pages. A quick visit just now didn't show any big improvements. :-(
istockphoto is doing a lot better job in royalty free stock - my 2 cents!
