This is cool as the upcoming iPhone... Are these folks planning to build a monster portal/social networking site or gaming site? I could see them going after PopCap, Yahoo Games, EA/pogo, MSN and etc...... but with a unique approach of binding the users via live video. Very novel concept and could be the next phase of social networking and online gaming... Convergence of best of best? It would be very interesting to monitor HeyCosmo over the next few months... I wasn't able to find much info on their investors, but please share them!

Like most people have already mentioned on this post. I like what these folks have done, but support for FireFox maybe needed to allow a larger population to access and benefit from their offerings. These folks have built something very different than most web 2.0 start-ups and would like to see them making an impact. Are these folks ramping up and looking for a relationship with MySpace/Fox, Google, Yahoo, Electronics Arts, IAC?

In my opinion, it would be very interesting to see how much progress they make over the next few months.

Lastly... web-cams, live video and etc. is hitting the market hard!

P.S. someone should arrange a HeyCosmo MeetUp session ;-)

Pretty interesting site. We've all been waiting for something like this. Live video chat - catch up with old friends ...wish your parent's a happy anniversary ...walk through a training session with your east coast sales staff --all live. This can be applied to so many different applications. The poker game is just the tip of the iceberg for this kinda stuff.

Keep up the good work HeyCosmo!

I'm confused... the posting said "The feature list for HeyCosmo is impressive, combining tradition web cam technology with virtual meeting space similar to WebEx and others; a multimedia window can display most things on a user’s desktop including videos, images and games." but I see poker!!!

Can someone please arrange a time/date maybe using meetup or whatever to coordinate a game?

TC readers... if you catch Mike Arrington playing heycosmo take a snapshot and post it somewhere on the site

This is a rapidly evolving area of technology that is in search of a behavior. Video as a social networking addition is a recent phenomena outside of porn.

Heycosmo has at least frame the value of being their video tech around the idea of doing something together other than just talking. Operator11 has focused more on the Andy Warhol-esque people as personality.

I think its too early to tell what will work. Though I suspect that it has more to do with game play and information dissemination than with voyeurism and exhibitionism.

interesting idea. i just signed up and it looks pretty good. its like a swiss army knife in that it does a little bit of everything. you guys should give it a test drive. it's free, so you've really got nothing to lose.

and yes, this is exactly what the porn industry is waiting for... it's the best thing to happen to porn since :)

I think if this web site takes off, I won't wonder if they package up their codec/technology and position against Adobe Flash media server (their pricing model is ridiculous).

I see this technology being used in numerous ways. All the best HeyCosmo.

This is fun, but needs many players for heycosmo to become real fun. I have visited the site and found that it is a lot better than Yahoo Game and others. But, couldn't find real players there. Hope to see many when i visit next time, maybe tomorrow.

Just tried it out with a couple of friends in remote. One guy was happened to be in an interesting training session, so we all stayed there for a while. Sound is ok, video is good. The cool thing is this is all free. Think next will try is to use this to live monitor our new puppy at home. Hope they don’t have time limit on how long you can keep a room.
