#86 - I am a Protestant, but do not have a problem with this video. I see it for what it is, a delightful parody of the "Jesus phone" hype that has gone around the internet.

I thought it was funny. Why? Because Christians have a sense of humour, and our faith is not so easily threatened (I'll leave that to certain Muslim extremists), because it is the truth.

As for "fundamentalist" Protestants thinking Catholics are not Christians... you aren't. You have to be a follower of the teachings of Jesus Christ to have the privilege of being called a Christian.

Catholics, by definition, follow the pope and his cohorts, who regard their own "insights" more highly than that of the Gospel. Case in point: limbo - where did that come from? And, more importantly, where did it suddenly disappear to?

The latest pope decided that it was rubbish and quite rightly got rid of it. But what about all the popes prior to him that had believed in that invention with zeal? Maybe they "misheard" God telling them that He had forgotten to mention limbo in his exhaustive biblical text. What an Almighty cock-up!

If you would like to find a real Christian church, this would be a good place to start: http://www.everynation.org.

PS All the barely literate people attempting to defend Jesus, please stop. You're not helping. And the smug gentlemen with the big words... just stop.

Is the video in poor taste? From the sounds of it that wasn't the intention. That said, it is undoubtedly insensitive. But this is the USA. We get to be upset over issues like this. Just think about what would have happened to Duncan if this was written about Allah somewhere in the Middle East.

It's Rufus Wainwright on the CD soundtrack of the Shrek movie - and it's John Cale's version played within the movie itself. And, that's Cale heard in this vid - which is just right, imo.

#92 - I think it is John Cale, not Rufus Wainwright, who sings the song. Yes, Rufus does a version, but that definitely isn't his voice.

Jesus Phone? I see it differently. I think it's called that because that's what most people will say after they buy one, "Jesus, I paid how much for this?" Or, "Jesus, now I'm ballin'", etc., etc.

I am still amazed by how The Silicon Valley keeps creating its own hype :)
One new iPhone post/ad every day, this seems more like an iPhone masturbation... Could you stand til June 29th ?
Enjoy!

3 Weeks Until The iPhone Goes On Sale...

I saw this video on Techcrunch and thought it was quite amusing and highly suited to what is being made out of the iphone.
The hype continues to build for Apple’s iPhone. Will it deliver? Here’s my take on it:

87: I agree; I also think that perspective matters: all that hype will look silly two years down the road when people lugging around a scratched-up single-faced glass square will try to hide the fact that they still do. The cell-phone was long overdue for an interface makeover (the current ones being oddly reminiscent of the pre-Web protocol/system called Gopher), but now that competition on that level has finally started, more and better ideas will come around. That is the only significant news here !

Can't wait for the 3rd version of the iPhone, after v2 has played catch-up to user expectations (with a few extra cutesy doodads to justify a second release). If I can place it next to a keyboard and screen and see it act as an instant, net-connected portable computer that can wirelessly find neighboring resources on its own (like that Intel prototype from a few years back), I'll actually be thrilled. If it can sync-up with the other guy's hardware to give me a sense of who it is I am talking to at a party (and allow us to manage out social nets accordingly), then I'll have seen a real breakthrough. If it can build an instant high-bandwidth mesh network with neighboring phones to find/share a bridge to a distant wifi link (or create an instant resilient tower-less cell subnet), I'll be ecstatic. In the meantime, it's... nice.
