Weewar For the Weekend

I just came across Weewar, an online war game that combines elements of risk and other strategy games. It’s fairly simple pixel art, but they’ve gained an extremely loyal following during their beta period.

Like Kdice (which I am playing right now while writing this), Desktop Tower Defense and other games we’ve covered, Weewar is is a highly addictive game. You’ll quickly get sucked into playing for hours at a time against other human opponents.

This is a turn based game. Any player can start a game, first by choosing from a number of terrains and then inviting other players. You take over factories and set them to produce more armies, tanks, etc., which then move on to take over yet more factories or battle other players. Not everyone has to be around at the same time to play the game. You have your turn, and then the next player is notified by email that it is their turn.

The game is still in private beta - their blog indicates that they’ve had multiple server crashes and slowdowns from too many players at once. Sign up here to get into the beta.

That seems to be a nice one Michael.
Actually wanted to put forth this message.
Just was on orkut. Came across a new link “edit feeds” on the left.
Well, it helps one in incorporating the feeds into their orkut profile/account.

But, the strange thing is that it displays the whole feed and not only few lines or so!!

I think this is because google has just taken over feedburner and they will start displaying the whole feeds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guess, google will start doing the same thing with google reader too i guess.

Not a bad strategy to take over the aggregating market(aka ‘my yahoo’ or bloglines or rojo) by storm.

    phew!

Typo Michael. It’s “their blog” not “they’re blog”.

Have you seen Call of Combat? Its based on 2AM’s Chain of Command, which went under with the web 1.0 bubble.

    Sweet game! Thanks Mike!

Looks like a great game. I’ll be trying it out. I love the way it works on the same principles as chat in the way that it allows for a game to be played over a period of time without requiring continuous focus or a commitment to the budgeting of time for the game to be able to continue. Can’t wait to get some games going with the people whom I am also only able to communicate electronically.

Kdice and DTD were pretty fun but it gets boring really quick. I’m wondering how much of the 30+ demographics are attracted to Weewar’s cartoonish features. Till I get an invite, I’m going to sit back and continue with classic risk online on landgrab.net.

Please god, no more tower defense like games! My productivity can’t take much more of this captain!

Haven’t had a chance to play yet but it looks (and sounds) incredibly similar to Nintendo’s Advance Wars franchise!

Interested to see if Nintendo take action…

This game looks exactly like Advanced Wars on the Nintendo DS.

    Hello…
Is there something just like RISK on - line?

    I’m hunting it for years…

    Thanks.

Weewar is so much fun! And be warned - highly addictive.

    Oops, my turn - gtg

Even the graphics looks just like Advance Wars…

I second the opinion about Weewar looking like the GBA game Advanced Wars. The graphics are slightly different but even the colour schemes are the same.

They created a feedback group on Tangler a few weeks ago and since then we’ve all been crazy on it. Loads of fun.

    @ Drazick

Yes, Conquer Club (http://www.conquerclub.com) is very similar to Risk. It’s amazing.
