keibi.pngSan Francisco-based Keibi Technologies has raised around $6 million in Series B funding from Catamount Ventures and Hunt Ventures, according to a post at Alarm:Clock.

The media discovery and moderation platform aims to help communities and media add visibility to user-generated content. Keibi’s holistic approach uses web semantic and recognition engines to provide robust user generated content categorization that can be leveraged for content discovery, community moderation, and brand protection.

Keibi was founded by Paul Remer, the former general counsel for photo social network Piczo.

Mike was right when he said there needs to be a slump in this industry. One clear sign is when product descriptions begin sounding like Dilbert comic strips. It happened around 2000, and it seems like it’s happening again now ;-)

Hi, this is Paul Remer, CEO of Keibi. Thanks for all the great comments about our website and product description ;-) We can only improve from here, right? For the record, the company was founded by Pierre Grenier, a brilliant HBS grad and UGC visionary. I was fortunate enough to have been brought in by Pierre and the initial investors to help make this a reality.

I think they are saying they help companies categorize user-generated content. But it looks like a marketing person got a hold of it and produced that incomprehensible garbage of a product description.

I think 1. John is just being sarcastic.
The site in question doesn’t have anything to show the world but got 6M funding. That’s cool. :)

Here’s a link to a Red Herring article that ran yesterday. It’s pretty accurate, except we don’t claim to “police” anything.

User generated content categorization is out dated now. Just too many people are doing it.
