Fox Interactive Confirms Photobucket, Flektor Acquisitions
by Michael Arrington on May 30, 2007

The Photobucket and Flektor acquisitions were confirmed by Fox Interactive today in a press release. No details on prices, so we are assuming earlier reports were correct: $300 million for Photobucket (including a $50 million earnout) and $15-20 million for Flektor.

We had earlier reported that MySpace made both of these acquisitions; in fact parent company Fox Interactive was the buyer.

See Photobucket and Flektor at the Techcrunch Database.

  • Flektor is a GREAT buy. The site has some amazing tools and features, and a very commercial look. I think it will likely grow at a fast rate. Maybe the founders should have waited a year though before selling?

  • Mike, eBay/StumbleUpon; Fox/Photobucket/Flektor; CBS/LastFM… you should come to Toronto more often!

Is this the “froth” you were talking about earlier today, or do these acquisitions serve to take it to the next step?

I know you were talking about all of this possibly ending in the next couple of years and I have to agree. Once a couple of major acquisitions are made in each vertical (video, photosharing, online radio, etc.), the majors are going to close their checkbooks and run with the horses they’ve bet on.

    Best,
    George
