As far as I understood it back then, Yahoo mainly wanted to hire Gonze because of the XSPF playlist format he invented. That format is now implemented in the Yahoo! Music Engine, for example… I don’t think they every had great plans for Webjay itself, as a service.

Another waste of a good startup. Its not just Yahoo - throw Webjay on the pile with dodgeball too. I think these 2.0 startups and their “feature” orientation and low selling prices reduce the committment that the acquiring organization feels to their successs.

The slow, gradual deconstruction of Yahoo. They used to be so cool, now just a company in search of its mojo. If Google and Apple ever do merge, it’s game over. Prediction: That’s the last thing Jobs will do when he retires from Apple. Since there is nobody else that can run Apple, might as well leave it to the Google guys.

My guess is that Yahoo is going to use what they got from Webjay to update their music website. They have been testing out a new flash-based video player there, so maybe they want to update the music player to something that competes better with Pandora as well.

Damn it… 2007 sucks.

There is no flying car, new mike tyson, new soda taste, new sauce, new ice cream, blade runner city, levitating TV screen, and freaking hoverboard. I can’t feel killerapp. I just can’t feel the hype.

To all founders and dickheads out there. Can you at least invent freaking killerapp for 2007?

“Killerapp”– You know spreadsheet for apple II, Grand Thief Auto, Super mario brothers, nintendo wii, etc… I’m sick of million dollar VC news. I hate reading million dollar funded companies that never show killerapp.

Here’s five reasons why you can’t create killerapp.

1.) Chasing VC money.
2.) Writing crappy business plan.
3.) Feeling young…Buy houses, partying, car, commit adultry
4.) Busy yelling your own employees.
5.) invent vaporware news. We invented Sealth mode!!! Oh shut up.
