Google, Salesforce Rumors

I’ve been comparing notes with journalists and bloggers on Google/Salesforce rumors all week. First it was rapid rumors of a Google acquisition of Salesforce, which was flatly denied. Now it seems they may be in partnership talks according to the WSJ, with both sides looking to more fully integrate Google services like Gmail, Gtalk and Google Docs into Salesforce applications.

A partnership could be the consolation prize to Google after failed takeover talks, or this could all be nothing more than silicon valley gossip. Either way, it’s a snoozer.

From a CRM perspective it’s possibly the only missing application from Google’s aresenal.

I think this is probably right on the money, I posted on my blog about this around a month ago saying this would be the right move for them (Salesforce.com should partner with Google), looks like they may finally be acting on it.

Acquisition was out of the question, Salesforce is a B2B focussed app, even Google Docs is not focussed in that direction despite it’s ability to go very well if it was.

Why write about a snoozer?

Wow, That would be cool. If google acquires saleforce then offers it as one-of-there applications, it could really start to win me over to the do no evil company.

Michael,
i am not related to bebo, but i think no one should be allowed to speak of an entrepreneur like Birch in the futile manner employed by the last poster. why don’t you delete this horrendous post, we don’t want to read that kin of crap on techcrunch.

Will, G has the money…This will be a good addition to google if they offer the service along with their other line of web applications.

BREAKING: Snoozer or not , as of today - shares rose for Salesforce by 5 percent after the announcement -

also today, Salesforce announced an on demand SOA (service oriented architecture)

Why is this a snoozer? SalesForce is used by a tremendous amount of companies. I might hint that Google is interested in expanding it’s business services beyond mail and docs, and actually start offering in-depth products. At least, that would seem more logical than SalesForce wanting to integrate Google mail and docs into a proprietary platform like AppExchange.

Since we rolled out a gadgetized CRM for Google Apps and iGoogle at Etelos, I have been bugging my contacts at Google about this rumor. From what I hear, its not a new rumor. Been around a while… seems to come up every now and then.

I have known about these discussions for months, very surprised that this is news. I work for neither company, just have very good connections at one. The lawyers have been hashing out the partnership for 3 months +, essentially they are working an APEX play for Google-Office and potentially SDFC integration with GOffice externally.

I would like to see an acquisition. I am not interested in a partnership with any premium being put on the services available through G. I too read about this a few months ago though cant remember where. This in all reality would be a huge acquisition for G and the amount of services they could offer. It would also raise more flags about the amount of information that they have access to and can control.

I’m all for it though, their takeover of Urchin/Picassa/etc was great for everyone.

Its very true! Today when downloading attachments in gmail I was being redirected to a salesforce.com server.

I think its definitely a move by Google to increase adoption of Google Apps-its MS Office rival offering.

Google could better buy Highrise of 37Signals.

Wouldn’t surprise me if they did, would be good competition for MS…

I created a bet on it http://www.gottabet.com/bet/21.....salesforce ;-)

Go Google Go!

Salesforce.com has much more then a technology… it has a sale force to sell to the enterprise market. No doubt to me… Google will sooner or later buy salesforce.com…… ask yourself… as a shareholder of both companies… would you agree? I would.
Appexchange with Google Apps makes absolute sense from the user perspective as well. We just did something similar but open source… http://www.applicationexchange.com

Not happening. Just a partnership that should have happened a long time ago… http://www.salesforce.com/land.....000000CerP

I’m glad these things are done. Many should do the same…

They are not integrating all they are doing is getting Google Adwords at a cheaper deal for Salesforce.com customers. They are also giving team edition customers access to use the Google Adwords.

What a bunch of junk, they are not doing any such deal. It is just a scam to get the stock prices to shoot up

As you all did see they did and a there is a lot of rich stockbrokers now.

People need to not listen to lies especially from this walton character

Yes, this walton character thinks they know something. What did we hear a story in our smoke room and now you want to pass this bull to the world
