AOL Acquires ADTECH
by Duncan Riley on May 16, 2007

adtech.jpgAOL have announced the purchase of a controlling interest in ADTECH AG, a German based online ad-serving company.

The acquisition gives AOL an ad-serving platform that features a variety of ad management and delivery applications that allow publishers to manage their online campaigns.

ADTECH will operate as an independent subsidiary of AOL’s Advertising.com.

AOL CEO Randy Falco said in a statement that the deal would give AOL the ability to provide publishers with a more complete set of advertising solutions.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

So, on the same note..should Google buy AOL?

The internet is becoming smaller day by day.

One day, there won’t be any sites left except Google.com, Yahoo.com and Miscrosoft.com

Is it correct to always say “AOL ‘have’ announced,” Amazon ‘have’ announced,” etc…? I thought that these were single entities - just wondering.

Dave just have to know.

Company acquisition is a healthy thing its part of a thriving ecosystem. Its only when seemingly meaningless overvalued acquisitions take place when something appears out of whack - YouTube being clearly one of them, but this one seems like an ordinary everyday acquisition to me.

No biggie.

Given GOOG’s recent purchase of DCLK and 24/7 on the blocks, the race is on to bolster ad serving/campaign management. Expect to see similar big ticket acquisitions shortly. MSFT can not sit back much longer. AQNT won’t break off Atlas, so who will MSFT pick up?. Expect to also see the DCLK and 24/7 defectors heading to tier 2 players like Zedo and Quigo.
Fun times!!

I dont know how valid - the “3 site internet” arguement is …

- but - the counter arguement sounds like “Boiling frog sendrome”

@ Dave G–In Commonwealth English, it is proper to use collective singular nouns with plural verbs (The couple have five children, The corporation have acquired all your base.) In American English, it is proper to use singular verbs with collective singular nouns (The couple has, the corp. has).

“Through this acquisition, publishers will be able to better manage their own advertiser campaigns via ADTECH, as well as better monetize their available inventory via Advertising.com’s diverse solutions and extensive advertiser base.”
