Skype For Mac 2.6 with Mac-Exclusive Feature

Skype for Mac 2.6 was released today and includes a number of “catch up” features previously available only for Windows Skype users. Among them are a chat type indicator (knowing when your contacts are writing messages), Skype Prime integration and automatic updates.

But the coolest feature is Mac-only at this point, Call Transfer. When you are on a Skype call, you can transfer it to another Skype user on your contact list. It is available under the “more” button during an ongoing call.

It appears that the receiving user must also be using Mac version 2.6, so this feature isn’t that useful yet. Still, its nice to see Skype releasing a new feature for the Mac crowd first.

What about the coverage justin.tv is getting in the main stream press? I just heard them on all things considered today. They seem to be attracting notable sponsors.

Is this feature in preparation for the iphone’s wifi?

Microsoft used to provide new features to the Mac releases of their Office Suite before the Windows version too… I guess it’s like focus group testing!

Yeah Its really a good news for the mac users. It will be great even if Yahoo also come up with Mac version of YIM

what about call id… have they made it able so that we can set what our call id shows up as? +00001234 just doesn’t convince people that I am ’seriously’ calling them.

The whole closed secret-protocol thing Skype does really stinks.

I have Big Hopes for Peer-to-peer SIP, which promises to define open standards for Skype-like features.

where can you get the “chat type indicator” in Windows? I don’t think that exists
